If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I think my problem is I don't know any strangers. By that I mean almost everyone I interact with during the course of a day is someone I already know.

Another potential issue is where I live. If I pitch up and start taking random shots of strangers, I'm liable to end up in A&E.

So, barring anything outstandingly bizarre happening between now and midnight on Monday, I fear I am definitely out of this round.

Personally I would opt for a sunset pic with a silhouette of a human - bound to win ;)

They'd have to be able to levitate a good hundred metres off the ground to be silhouetted above the trees, then.

The reason I chose this theme was to push people a little. We almost never get shots of people in this contest, and it's all well and good mastering high shutter speed motion photography, or finding the perfect sunset, but we never get asked to photograph people. And because I can be an awkward bugger...

It's not that difficult to approach a stranger and ask if they'd mind you taking their picture. If they're hostile, walk away. I tend to find that most people, in a public situation that's photograph worthy are fine with it.
I don't believe that you never meet or see anyone you don't know on a day to day basis! ;)
Head for a crowded area. Go somewhere new. Strangers are, I find, literally everywhere.

Believe. I am horribly shy, despite what I like to put over.

You've sort of persuaded me, though. You're right the idea of the compo is to try and push people into making pictures, so I damned well ought to get out and have a go.

I think the 'rs' should be dropped and this month re-titled strange

Another non-entry for me. I'm just not into it at the minute. :( I was going to the missus holding her pregnant belly with 'not yet met' or something. Couldnt be arsed though.
