Maps are next to useless for me if I'm driving by myself.

I have a venerable collection of Road and OS maps in various scales. Unfortunately I want to get into geocaching, and whilst I could plot locations before I set off, it does seem quite fun to have something go blip...blip...blip...

Work out where you're going when you set off, possibly scribble a few notes of road numbers in sequence. For me the whole benefit of a real map is I know how things fit together before I set off, so if I have to take a diversion I know roughly where I'm heading and where potential alternatives are, and where else is likely to get snarled up.

If you want to get another Satnav go with Garmin, not great either, but 'best of a bad bunch'. Most annoying thing about my Nuvi 760 is any bend sharper than a Banana it calls a turn, which can be a pain.

Yeah, I know that bit. It's when you start going through all of the little villages that it gets confusing.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time that we were driving back from Dover to Manchester and, due to roadworks on the motorway and a badly timed arguement, we ended up going via Ipswitch?
