I found out recently that you can ask for your interview notes. Learn something every day.

What does that mean, exactly?

You can ask for the notes that the person/people interviewing you made at the time?

Yes if you are interviewed and they make notes you are allowed to request copies of them after the interview.

That sounds like a pretty straightforward Data Protection Act request to me…

Quite tempted to do it just to annoy some former employers ;)

But they can only keep personal data for a reasonable length of time, whilst it's relevant. Once you'd got the job, and settled in, I see little or no need for them to retain it, and therefore there is no data for you to request.

When people take over 2 weeks to pay you for work you did, when you chase them up they promise to do it that day.... and 3 days later they haven't...

Nah, HR departments are notorious for hanging onto things. They are likely to hold onto this information for the entirety of your employment and for at least 6 months after you leave (or whatever the statute of limitations on bring a case before an employment tribunal).

When you're waiting on an order of new laptops (don't mention the D word) and you've given up on them so you tell the guy in Rome you'll send him an older laptop with more RAM installed then just as you're halfway through configuration you get the email saying the new ones will be delivered on Friday *sigh*

When you have to travel 700 miles to see a customer, despite being 99% certain that she's just pressing the wrong buttons. I've already spent 3 days and one night on it remotely, and this is a contract only worth about £5 a month to us

And JJ: I'd charge them 'extraordinary expenses' on the contract and make them pay the petrol. If they say no, cancel the contract. Sounds to me like you're not making any money off it anyway. 700 miles of travel has probably wiped out any profit you might make for years.

I wish

Ford Mondeo 2004 (04) 2.0TDCi 6 speed saloon, 65k on the clock £2500 or so, looks like a decent car to go for (especially as it's a facelift so has a lot of extra spec such as cruise control, 6 speed gearbox etc), either that of a Vauxhall Vectra or a 'Bishi Carisma. Annoyingly all are around £2-3k which is more than I have, but I think I should be able to bring the price down a bit as I will have the money cash ready to go when it comes to buying it, just need to borrow a grand from somewhere then I should be good to go pretty much

Trying to find a car that is reliable, good quality and fits my spec is a bit of a chore :( The only others I have seen are ex police spec cars which I know will be a pain to get serviced and have really high mileage as well as being very far away

...when Amazon realises there's interest in a book and skyrockets the price - £11.69 for a 112 page paperback graphic novel? Suck my dongle...
