But tourists can be fun. It's the wrong time of year now, but it's a great spectator sport watching them on the river, desperately trying to figure out how to row their hired boat before they get run down by the big tour boats.

I can excuse the Brummy, I actually thought it was the beer in you causing it

And there's the dirty duck which is nice in any weather, lovely pub, comfy chairs looking out over a lawn to the river, great food and again, the beer's excellent

I went to college in Stratford about 3 years ago. As a local I would say there's nothing to do, but then again so do residants of York and I love walking around the streets of York. Like others have said you have the RSC which is worth looking at. Shakespeares birthplace has been re-done recently, so go their too. Pub wise, if you have your car leave Stratford up the Birmingham road, drive straight for about 1 mile and on the right hand side there's a place called The Dun Cow. Very nice for an evening bite, but its quiet. You could also go for a wander around Stratford Armouries. Oh, I forgot, you have Cox's Yard by the river. Small local venue with cover bands on most night, can be good fun!

York, all that culture and yet I can still spend days just doing nothing there except chilling out, going up again after Xmas for a few days to celebrate our silver wedding.

Have you been to the Dun Cow since it changed ownership? It seems much more the "party" pub than it used to, although I can't comment on the food since they've changed Chef since I was last there. Stratford Armouries is a good point though, somewhere else I keep meaning to go. Not too far away from town is the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon, which is a good walk through automotive history and a really nice way to while away half a day: ClickyI've lived in Stratford constantly for nearly a year and a half, and visited for two years and I would still say there's loads to do here and in the environs, certainly we've never found ourselves bored, I guess it just depends on what you like to do.

I presume by party pub you mean there's actually people in it now . I went about two months ago and the food was amazing, the g/f went one month ago and said it was just as good, so the new chef must know what their doing. Thinking about it, for a good put you also have "The Stag at Red Hill", just outside of Stratford (10mins if that) towards Worcester, good food there too. Hobgob.
