Whenever I have a painful neck or shoulders a single ibuprofen usually does the job.

jonbwfc I was behind her in a queue today - but I wouldn't describe it as 'bushy'.

Accident caused mine, been living with it for more than 20 years :(

Most of the time, my neck is just stiff, but some times it just makes me want to scream, because it hurts so much and it is a constant pain and no drugs do anything for it.

My lower back is the same - car accident, crushed vertebrae - and when that goes, even co-codamol and the like don't take the edge off of the pain.

Same when I get gout, nothing touches the pain, I just have to put up with it, until the quatazone takes affect.

Apart from mild headaches, I've yet to find a painkiller that actually does anything much.

Might I suggest being referred to a professional?

I can only recommend most heartily a properly trained osteopath. I've been having ongoing treatment for various back problems for over five years now, and the difference to the pain I used to suffer to what I have now is most remarkable. I am also much more aware of how my body works, and what actions can cause me back and neck pain, so I can avoid them whenever possible.

Yea - I've got a bit of a sore neck too  Due to go and see the Consultant sometime next month and already have a list of questions that is quite long :o

Been told to stay away from Osteopaths by the Physio who admits there's little else he can do but loosen up the joints slightly every now and then but agree that the osteopath made me feel much more pain free - at a cost though. One session was never enough and I ended up having 3 or even 4 in the month. I think I bought his last house for him???

There is that. I'm lucky in that I'm not far from the European School of Osteopathy, so I get treated by third and fourth year students under supervision, and at a cut price.

Send me a PM if you want to come to my clinic for treatment. I know you don't live too far from me.
