The problem with these bloody super hero films is that the villains are always killed off. In the comics they keep on turning up with more fiendish plans. I was seriously annoyed when Tim Burton killed the Joker. Same thing in the Spiderman films. Why do they do this? If you know that the baddie’s going to die, why bother sitting through 2 hours of CGI messing about?

Mind you, the Joker won’t be back in the new wave of Batman films because the actor selfishly expired, the chump. He could have made stacks doing another film.

True story. Actually killing them is a little unnecessary.

Ah, but by killing off the baddie it means the studios have to come up with something original for the sequels.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I can't really remember, but didn't Spidey 2 play around with Goblin's death? There was a similar storyline in the comics IIRC...

I think a lot of directors don't think ahead when making a film (unlike the studios ironically), and maybe go for the big dramatic ending :?

Purely from my perspective, he couldn't be any worse than Maguire (in all seriousness, it took me ages to even remember his name there)

Sony Denies Logan Lerman Will Be Spidey

Quote:
While the website Hitfix reported today that Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief star Logan Lerman was the clear first choice and "almost 100% locked" into becoming the next Peter Parker in the rebirth of the Spider-Man franchise, insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered. for the new film that will be directed by (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb. On the other hand, Drew McWeeny is often right about stuff--he was first to accurately note that Fox was eyeing other directors for the X-Men: First Class spinoff film because Bryan Singer had committed to direct Jack The Giant Killer.

It's in the movie news thread from a few places (I'd completely forgotten about this thread).

Are you a Spidey fan, indifferent...? Personally, I don't really care what they do with the character after that first set of films *shudders*

I like the character and the first film was alright. I wish they'd do something a little less CGI though.

I was just wondering if the fashion for vampires would see Morbius show up at any point now...
