Well if Hitler had his whey, many of our problems would not exist.

He had a damn good try at being one by most accounts, whatever it said on his job description. I do agree however that England shouldn't use the British/UK national anthem as their own. Jerusalem or something else would be quite acceptable, provided it's not open to an X-factor style public vote. You'd probably end up with the East Enders theme tune or something.

I love the notion of Song 2 being the national anthem Oh, and I'll take the Royal family with all the associated faults over a scumbag president any day - at least they've got minds of their own in a good way

I agree. As for national anthem as long as Simon Cowell has no involvement that will be a good start.

Are you seriously suggesting that a song named after the capital city of another country would be better than 'God save the Queen' as a national song?

The PC brigade would never allow anything as Christian as Jerusalem as the English national anthem if we were to get one anyway.

It's not named after the Israeli Capital The name "Jerusalem" as used in the song is a reference to the New Jerusalem i.e. Heaven. The tenet of the song is that, no matter what has come before or what you believe about Jesus, it is up to those who are alive now to try and make heaven happen here on earth. It may use Biblical imagery but that doesn't make it a Christian song.

I'm now thinking "I Vow to Thee My Country", not sure why it wasn't mentioned originally actually.

I was going to suggest Land of Hope and Glory, but I don't think we have much of the former and it's a long time since we've had any of the latter. Maybe Land of Confusion or Help! would be a better choice.
