He had a damn good try at being one by most accounts, whatever it said on his job description. I do agree however that England shouldn't use the British/UK national anthem as their own. Jerusalem or something else would be quite acceptable, provided it's not open to an X-factor style public vote. You'd probably end up with the East Enders theme tune or something.

It's not named after the Israeli Capital The name "Jerusalem" as used in the song is a reference to the New Jerusalem i.e. Heaven. The tenet of the song is that, no matter what has come before or what you believe about Jesus, it is up to those who are alive now to try and make heaven happen here on earth. It may use Biblical imagery but that doesn't make it a Christian song. _________________Jim

I was going to suggest Land of Hope and Glory, but I don't think we have much of the former and it's a long time since we've had any of the latter. Maybe Land of Confusion or Help! would be a better choice.
