Joss Whedon To Rewrite CAPTAIN AMERICA & THE AVENGERS??

Quote:
Pajiba – a website with which I am unfamiliar – reports that Joss Whedon is not only negotiating to direct “The Avengers,” he’s negotiating also to REWRITE both the “Avengers” and “First Avenger: Captain America” scripts.

IMDb currently has the team of Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (the three “Narnia” movies) scripting the Captain America project.

IMDb has Zak Penn scripting “Avengers.” Penn previously scripted “Elektra,” “Fantastic Four,” “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “The Incredible Hulk,” which were four Marvel movies I [LIFTED] hated.

Variety confirmed early Wednesday that Whedon would "rework" the "Avengers" screenplay as well as direct.

Longtime readers know I love Whedon’s work, so obviously I feel all this – if true – is a big step in a better direction.

Before the "Buffy" and "Firefly" TV shows made him famous, Whedon made a small fortune as a movie-script doctor, shoring up projects as diverse as "Toy Story" (for which Whedon was Oscar-nominated) and "Speed."

Find all of Pajiba’s story on the matter here.

That would make sense :)

I have less and less faith in this project as it goes on, whether the above is true or not :(

Probably for the best - there will almost certainly be enough nods and winks as it is :)

Leaked concept art for Captain America (interesting) and Thor (terrible)

What feeble kind of hammer is that? Actually I can't see how either of these two characters will work in a live action film without substantial changes.

More here:Collider

I agree on Cap being the best (and most likely to 'work' of the two images); Thor's 'chainmail effect' outfit hasn't looked right from the start. But then who knows how it'll look on-screen? :)

The hammer actually looks pretty close to the comics, only the handle would maybe be a bit longer... I guess again that it'll come down to what looks good on-screen, though I'm not expecting the Thor film to be much cop at all unfortunately (I'd be happy to be proved wrong). For one thing, it'll struggle with the sub-Shakespearean dialogue unless the characters spend all their time not saying much, or are good enough actors to get away with it

Mark Ruffalo Cast as The Hulk In 'The Avengers' Movie, Joss Whedon confirmed as director

Read more: Mark Ruffalo Cast as The Hulk In 'The Avengers' Movie – RopeofSilicon.com Movie News, Trailers, Reviews and More http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/ma ... z0ud0RVNc4

I dunno, none of the Banner actors have believably had the 'Determined nerd with one hell of a temper' aspect for me yet, and I doubt Ruffalo will either... I'd also like to point out that that may be more the directors' fault ;)
