Dunno. I'd have to see it and work it out from there. My issue is they've pushed the trust of members too far now. Okay, we weren't paying subscribers, but the way they've just piled in without any real feeling for the community that was well established sucks.

Well done Oli, good on you for not ranting either, I think a few of us might find it hard to do that...
I might go back...However the one this I did like about the forums was I could go in through the Mac User portal and edit the forum number to browse other boards...This kept the layout the same and meant I only had to log in once to post on the Os X board and the Linux board...

I used to do the same. 7 = meeting place 6 = macuser (I think) 8 = software (Mac side) 1 = Comments 2 = Help 13 = Hardware (Mac side) 21 = Computer Games Never really used the PCPro board though. I think the users on the PCPro portal used the Meeting place more than anything else.

Hehe, well done for remembering all the numbers...I've recently forgotten them as I bookmarked them I used to use PCPro at work as I used the Linux board more there, and could still access TMP and the comments forum...

Just had a thought...
It's possible that the Dennis staffers will see what's going on tomorrow and prune some posts - specifically the ones linking to here. So for the benefit of the ones that haven't found this yet, it might be a good idea if everyone put links to this place in their sig over there?

Done, did so a while back, and have posted around as much as I could too...

I have to say it's unlikely we'll see some of the hardline MU members, which is a shame. There were one or two who resolutely refused to enter the MP at all.

Then that has been, and will continue to be, their loss. Really. I'd never get anything done if I solely relied on one resource for advice and info - there may be an occasion I will go back "there" to see if some of the uber-techies who've not come over to here are still loitering - but then I did just start possibly my last thread "there" about PM'ing said people to migrate... let's see Alanore, Nilknarf, dogbert, KindaWobbly, JohnSheridan, TC, etc etc etc

Right so, I'm here too for what it's worth. Getting rid of the forums, not the best idea I guess.
Still that's life overall. As for those Mac Users who refused to ever venture into the meeting place, bunch of idiots merely reinforcing the stereotypes that for the most part are not true.
So, cake?

Pie, please. I can understand some of their views. I was a bit scared of the noise level at first, but I got used to it. Eventually I found myself in the MP more often than the MU boards, and seriously enjoying the craic.

I'll be maintaining my MU membership for that reason - the very good advice available from the knowledgeable few. Assuming they don't jump the fence to MacFormat or somewhere else, which would be a shame. I have a suspicion ianfsb might have done that anyway, who knows? Either way, a change is as good as a rest, they say.
