It's got to be a Collie for me, short haired for preference. Or a decent sized mongrel/57 varieties. Mongrels always seem to have a lot more character than your average pedigree (collies excepted).
I'd love to have my own dog but it just wouldn't be fair to leave it alone all day. Just have to wait till I see the parents and get to play with their somewhat derranged collie.

Our springer spanial Poppy used to do that too - it was particularly funny when you threw them in the water. She'd go and get one, swim it over to the second one, and grab the second one. In the process, she'd drop the first one and an infinite loop would follow. She'd usually return with neither ball. It was by far the quickest and easiest way of tiring her out though - they can run for hours, so swimming was the only way to do it really.

Cocker Spaniel FTW! And this thread is now starting to sound wrong on so many levels...

Collies are hard work but well worth it if you give them the attention. I prefer labradors though I am not against other breeds.

Same here. I'd never choose to own a small yappie type dog though, but in small doses they're great to play with. I've only ever met two dogs I don't like - both grumpy westies who act more like cats than dogs. Little sh*ts they are.

My mate's dogs - the small one is Dexter (after the TV show), and the Helldog-looking one going camo on the sofa is Junior (for reasons unknown to me)

With most breeds it is how they react to others which is the important thing. I like dogs that cope well in the pub. Some dogs are just not suited to going to pubs.
