I arrived on the pc pro forums after the split...

i've dabled in here, but haven't quite got round to inhaling ;)

There are still a small core of us on pcpro doing what we can for the people coming along and asking for help. The meeting place is very quiet though.
Its by no means a social forum but there is a lot of useful stuff in the archives.

I'm not sure if it will ever get back up to that critical mass that it needs to be a fully functioning environment again... we will see!

I still have my account at PC Pro but dont use it. I'll still check the site for news but thats it.

I also registered with Bit Tech but I dont post often and when I do its normally to lol/shout at fanboys who get right on my tits (as they did at CustomPC).

There is rather a lot of that, isn't there?! After my pissed off period, I signed up there and posted a fair bit until about 2 months ago, when I realised that most of the topics were becoming the same day in, day out. Their articles and blogs though are superb.

From over there though:

Hi okenobi,

While i appreciate the offer, and I am actually a member of X404, I prefer to participate in the technical forums here.

Whilst I am aware that the social side seems very active on X404, I feel its rather too strongly biased that way. i.e. not enough going on in the technical forums. The argument could be that there is precious little going on on these boards as well...
IMHO its easier to integrate into a technical conversation than it is to break into a thread that obviously has 'in jokes' and shared humour between existing parties. Thats not purely a x404 thing its a forum community thing.

Horses for courses I guess, I drop into x404 every now and again just to make sure your tech forums are correct ;)

He is, of course, entirely correct. I often find it hard to integrate here, as I'm rarely silly enough for a lot of threads. But hey, I try :)

There you are! I wonder if you might talk to Saspro about what you could contribute here. I know he's looking for writing and reviews and stuff. Can't remember exactly what, but it would be great if you and the others would be willing to help us improve the tech coverage here......

Just a thought.

I know what you mean I guess. I was never a big part of the old meeting place (and never ventured onto anything Mac related) either so was a bit of a new kid on the block here. I was quite active on Custom PC articles and the more teccy forums tbh.

I still browse there occasionally but haven't posted since the place imploded.

Have seen plenty of posts by bluespider though and I have to say that he would be an asset in any computer forum in my opinion..

I find it funny how we always seem to have a periodical "ooh look at the old forum" thread.

I'm not really interested in the old forums, to be honest - this one keeps me perfectly happy. I think we could do with a few more active members though.

I keep trying to get the missus to join. Only so she can vote for my photo comp entry mind you ;) (not that I've actually entered for about 6 months! lol).

After a while you will discover that in most groups you will find that the majority of activity is done by a small percentage. Whether it is politics or a social group of some kind you get around 80% of go with the flow members. How on earth did you think that so may reprobates become MPs? ;)
