Quite a bit of our fresh stuff comes from local farmers markets ( live in the countryside ).

Ah OK, I wasn't familiar with any Co-ops that size so I lumped it in with the other "small" shops, sorry about that. :)

I hope there aren't any Mancunians reading this.

Anyway, while we used to shop at the Co-op, 99 per cent of our grocery shop is now at Morrisons. The reasons are simply the range is big enough without being overwhelming, the prices are good, and it's not Asda.

I normally shop at Sainsburys or Tesco.

But if I'm feeling like I want to spoil my better half, and make him something really nice, I'll pop into M&S or Waitrose on the way home.

:)

As I said in the recent poll;

I'm about 50:50 Tesco:Sainsbury. I voted for Tesco. Over the last two months I've actually been to Sainsbury slightly more often because it's next to the bus stop. when I had a car I would mostly go to Tesco.

By choice I would generally go to Tesco. My local store is huge and sells everything. It's also the cheapest; much cheaper than Morrisons / Asda / Safeway. However, I have noticed that prices vary a lot from store to store. My big one is significantly cheaper than the smaller ones for certain items such as bottled beer and chocolate, but some less popular things such as meat-free burgers are cheaper in the smaller store!

There are certain Sainsbury's own brands which are far superior to anything you can find in Tesco. The two that come to mind are their cat food and Patés. For that reason alone, I would never shop exclusively in one store.

I do use the local independent store for tobacco, but that's all. If I quit smoking I won't go there any more.

I put Asda as that's where I usually go, unless it's for chicken stir in sauce, as I can only find the brand that the wife likes at Sainsburys.

Mainly Sainsbury's and M&S
A new food European/Turkish food shop has opened near by so wifey gets some stuff from there, as she is Turkish.

I'll vote for Sainsbury's as that is where most of my money goes regarding fud shopping.

Tesco's online, Asda if I need anything quickly (it's 2 mins away), Sainsburys if I'm at work or the little shops across the road for proper naan & pitta bread etc

Got to be Lidl around here, although I also pop into farmfoods for those stupid bargains they have on frozen foods.

If I want booze though I'll go to Asda, and while I'm there I'll have a wander around Iceland which is next door.

Definitely Lidl for the main stuff though. Aldi is shocking though - most of their fruit and veg is literally rotting on the shelves. :o

Tesco here as it's on the way home from work. Massive Tesco Extra on the outskirts of Peterborough. However, I often find that bizzarely the smaller Asda in town has a wider selection of stuff, at least as far as food goes.

My Mum works for a division of the Co-op so most food shopping back home is co-op or Sainburys. Interestingly, as she works for the co she gets a fairly good discount off everything the co-op does. Including funerals, which is a bit creepy. There aren't many shops where that is true.

Went to Asda with the wife last night for "a few bits" and left £140 poorer

And yes, that was just on food, (except for the DVD - Slumdog for £9 )

To make it even better, after having bought all of the edible stuff, we then drove straight to the Chinese takeaway

Women eh...? *sigh*
