+1 - I’ve not had any reason to complain about them.

I've been with them since Midland days. I'm stuck with them because of my overdraft. I have no complaints other than their ridiculous charges, but I guess all the banks are much the same in that regard.

Same here. My local branch is within walking distance and I can do everything in the branch. I cannot use cash machines so do everything inside the branch.

What would it take for you to switch banks?
The introduction of a monthly fee for my current account.

The only time I've left a bank in the past was when I left uni. I had a Natwest student account as they had a branch on campus, which was very handy. However the branch in my parents village only opened 16 hours a week. (4 hours on 4 days). I decided that I'd be better off with an account that offered more elsewhere.

I switched from Halifax to Nationwide when Halifax shafted me over the mortgage I was taking out at the time. I'm considering switching back now as Nationwide, despite being a building society with no share holders, don't offer anything significantly better than the banks in terms of account features.

I won't have anything to do with Halifax after they diddles me out of a grand and a half's worth of shares when they demutualised.

Ouch! That's got to have smarted a bit. I'm only considering the Halifax because of their reward account (the one that gives you a fiver every month).

Went in to Halifax today to open a Save4It and Regular Saver accounts for little Emily. What a bunch or sour faced, silent, moody-arsed gits. You'd think they'd be happy taking your money!

Yes but that makes them no commission.

True. Banks always seem happier to throw debt at you. I paid a loan early this week and I was grilled - who, why, where, when, what for

That might be because of money laundering laws.

The suspicion seemed to be centered around me paying off the loan then leaving the bank

Well if you are no longer tied to the bank with a loan they have no hold over you.
