I haven't heard of Primer or Moon, but they look interesting - I'd probably give them a go.

I thought eXistenZ was sh!te, but maybe I just didn't get it.

Sunshine was over-rated IMHO, a bit of a yawn fest.

I enjoyed Pitch Black, A Boy and his Dog, Gattaca and The Hidden.

Equilibrium was okay.

I thought Silent Running was excellent, I'd watch that again without question.

I'd like to throw in Starship Troopers - it was pure cheese, but they knew it was cheese so they packaged it accordingly and I thought it worked rather well. I especially liked their take of the TV programming of the future - the televised execution of a murderer "all channels, all net" almost demanding that you tune in and take heed, and the massively propagandised advertisement of life in the military.

Good shout on Enemy Mine, I'd forgotten all about it.

The TV clip thing is from Verhoeven. He used it in Robocop as well as others.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I've seen Gattaca, Pitch Black and Existenz on that list. I don't rate Pitch Black much (feels a bit like Aliens to me), but Gattaca and Existenz are brilliant.

Equilibrium and Pitch Black are the only ones there I've seen the whole way through, and neither did much for me unfortunately.

I'm struggling to think of under-appreciated sci-fi tbh :?

I love Starship Troopers; even the animated show is good.

A lot of people haven't heard of Lifeforce. Great film in my opinion, especially the special effects back in 85. Great rack in there too. I know a lot more people on this forum have heard of it compared with abnormal people I meet in real life.

Must have a look for that at some point - I've seen it mentioned here right enough :)

I have to point out it's very much in the 'so bad it's good' category in quite a lot of ways.

I'd probably suggest 'Pi' to be on the list but I'm not sure it's strictly scifi.

Flooded future London, Alien serial killer, Rutger Hauer. Can't go wrong. I would go as as far to say that Rutger Hauer is the best B budget actor ever.
