Lol I remember the first time I ordered something online. I hadn't realised there was more than one page in each dept and kept getting confused. I wanted 6 lemons and ended up buying 6 bags of lemons. Oh what a lemon!

We generally do one big shop a month then top up from Tesco Express or Iceland. I find Tesco Express stuff quite expensive but it's literally round the corner from my house and it open until midnight so very convenient.

They now know us so well in there the guys sometimes 'forget' to put items through the till. My partner when to get some tobacco and something else recently and when he got home he told me he hadn't been charged for the tobacco. I've had a free chocolate brownie from them too. Every little helps!

Something similar happened to an old teacher of mine. He was ordering bananas online from a supermarket and the box said enter number of bananas so he put in 5. Somewhere along the way this got translated into 5 kilos of bananas. You can imagine the surprise he got.

I tend to go shopping in Tesco as we pass a Tesco Extra on the way home from work and so it's very easy. All the other supermarkets are either in or on the other side of the city centre so a bit of a pain to get to.

I set a weekly budget and add up what I'm spending as I go round the shop. If I hit the limit I stop and check if I still need anything urgently and will either replace something or decide if I can put it off till next week.
Pretty much all fresh food and the other delightful things one needs to buy for the house tends to mean it's usually between £40 and £50 a week which I find massively depressing but also struggle to reduce.

That's rubbish! If life gives you lemons, you make lemon juice.

If life gives you lemons, water and sugar *THEN* you make Lemonade :ugeek:

If I remember rightly doesn't it have to be hot water?

It didn't used to be when we made it in Italy, just make it up and leave the jug outside the back door in the sun for a bit, then give it a mix before you put the ice cubes in 8-)

That's a pretty fair point. We used to make "Sun Tea" with a couple of tea bags and a little bit of sugar in a carafe outside the back door all day, popped in the fridge overnight made a lovely cool drink the next day :D

My wife shops weekly in Sainsbury's and it is always over £115 .. every time.
I have asked her to have a look in the new Aldi that has opened and she has to drive past to get to Sainsbury's but that didn't go down well at all ..
So, I have joined the Costco which is just up the road .. it definately saves cash but you ned to buy MASSIVE boxes of stuff or 48 tins of beans at a time etc.

I like Aldi and Lidl, but they're not big enough so they don't stock everything.

I do find it cheaper, but I have to go to one of the main supermarkets afterwards anyway so it kind of seems like a waste of time.

My Mum and Dad do their weekly shop and go to (in this order) Lidl, then Aldi, sometimes Netto and finally to Tesco to get the fresh fruit and veg - the cheaper shops are cr@p for fruit and veg, or so they tell me - their stuff rarely lasts the week before it's wilting or rotting! Personally, I couldn't be bothered to go to three or four shops to get my weekly supplies, but as they're both retired I guess it's not a major problem for them - plus it saves them a tidy sum.
