I honestly thought free/cheap texts would have killed the likes of MSN off years ago... :|

Yes but from people abroad it can be very handy.

I rarely use MSN, Google Talk and Skype.

Otherwise, you'll find me on BlackBerry Messenger.

I'm always on MSN. It's my primary mode of personal communication, followed by forum PM and email for those that don't use it.

I Skype very rarely.

I also have accounts on other networks, but I so rarely use them I didn't tick the boxes. I'll have to get used to the Google thing though, because the new woman in my life wants to use it.

I didn't know that was still going. I think I was 3409834507876123 or something equally memorable

Skype only. And Pie, with chips :)

I never tried IRC before, but I tend to prefer either forum posting or talking to people.

I use Office Communicator and Skype nearly everyday. Although Skype more for video calls than the chat functionality.

I use Facebook chat quite a bit too, but that's more to do with living so far away from what I still call home.

I use Facebook chat, rarely, and usually only with one or two people.
So meh...
To be honest, I usually go online to have some time and space to myself, so being pestered by folk to stop what I'm doing and pay attention to them is pretty low on my list.

I used to iChat a lot. It let me talk to colleagues I was working with (they were in Oxford, I was in Chatham). For that kind of thing it was a bit less distracting than a phone call.

I've still got lots of folks in my buddy list, but I rarely fire the thing up now.

I don't have FB chat active. I do use Twitter, probably too much. You can get interesting discussions going on there, which if necessary can be switched to other communication systems. We all know it's open and in the wild, which is fine. IM is good if you want a more private discussion that goes beyond an email relay or whatever.

So, I haven't really voted. I might consider the options and make a choice. Pie seems favourite at the moment.

Aim, MSN, Skype and Lotus Notes sametime for work.

Rarely log on from home these days but it's a good work tool and saves cash on phone calls as a lot of my clients are in Europe.
