After Australia won the America's Cup, the then Prime Minister more or less declared the following day a national holiday, saying: "Any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum."

Mind you, in those days we were led by a Rhodes Scholar who held the Guinness Book of Records title for the fastest downing of a yard of ale.

But to bring this back to rugby - I doubt we'd get a holiday for winning the World Cup given it's such a minority sport in the country. Although I imagine NZ will lower their flags etc should they lose the semi.

Hey, I started it!

Not quite the same though, I do have some welsh blood and welsh speaking relatives so I guess it counts a bit.

You're welcome. :D

I actually started teaching myself Welsh when I was about 10 or so when my Auntie gave me a book on it. Didn't get very far, we didn't get to go over so much when I was younger and it's not like there was a Welsh speaking club in Lincolnshire.

As it was for my cousins in North Wales. They had a good upbringing for languages TBH, English at home, a Welsh speaking school and they had their German Gran who lived about 200 metres up the hill from them.

If you're so ashamed you could always learn Welsh now. ;) :D

The same could be said about most of Wales ;)

Where ever I go in Wales all the signage etc is in Welsh. but none of my friends are fluent speakers so no real point.

Trouble is it will die out that way which will be a shame.

WTF?!? A red card?!?

Yes an unlucky tackle, perhaps a yellow would have been harsh but a frakin red card?!?
