I am with him completely. Thankfully, you can block posts of that kind without blocking the friend in question.

Holy crap! This old mac is playing Doom 3! On a 450mhz G4 and a Radeon 9500 Pro!

Lol, I do. Using this mac has completely changed my view on them. I know this is not really a fast or powerful example, but what other PC do you know that was made in 2000 and works fine with the latest OS? Trying to install Vista on a Pentium 3 machine would suck. OSX 10.4 on a 450mhz G4 is brilliant! Although I don't think I'd get an intel mac. I don't regard them as "proper Macs" if you get what I mean. I'd happily have a dual G5 Powermac though

Don't blame the PC for the bloated pos that is Vista. An equivalent PC would be just as fast at running OS yada yada as a mac.

Cool, I'll be selling mine when I've dealt with all the images from my trip to the Lake District in a couple of weeks. </hint> Mark

You can run Windows 7 on a 2000 vintage machine no problem, provided it has a Gig or more of memory. It's not faster than 2K, but it arguably better in some ways. It will also run Doom 3 quite nicely, if it has a 9500 pro in it. I used to play Doom3 on my K6-2 450 in 256MB with that card It's good to know the graphics card works OK. That's been sat on my shelf for years, and in the end I had to get my boss to send it because I couldn't make it to the post office How much memory does your Mac have? I suspect it's significantly more than it would have come with!

I'm confused by this. Not an exceptional circumstance, but there we are.

take out yada yada and replace it with '10' or '9' or whatever you crazy apple fans like to call your OSes.
