No. They're not the original eps 4, 5 and 6, they are the tinkered, revised versions, so as far as I'm concerned he can [LIFTED] off where Star Wars films are involved. Mark

+1. What's with the deleted Millenium Falcon scene, the stupid CGI Jabba and the young Anakin in Episode VI!?

And in 2012 they'll start coming out in 3D.

If I get a PS3 I might consider these on Blu-Ray but definitely not the 3D versions.

You would really buy Ep. 1 on BD, by choice? Mark

Do you own it at all? I'm curious. I know how gay it mostly is and yet I have 2.35:1 VHS and DVD. I wouldn't buy BD though.

I said I might consider it. I would get the whole lot but still not sure if BD is even worth it. I now have an HD TV and as great as it is I do not know if I want to get into the whole BD system. An upscaling DVD will probably be more than good enough and since I already have the entire series on DVD I doubt that I will get them on BD.

I personally couldn't see much difference between my upscaled Dark Knight DVD and BR

A good upscaler is probably good enough for most people. Certainly unless you've got a very nice TV that's been set up properly using test discs and what have you. Most of the extra detail will get lost if you've got the TV's noise reduction filter set wrong, or the colour balance is such that it all gets washed to black anyway... IIRC there's actually more difference in sound quality between a BR and DVD than there is video quality. In theory, the sound on a BR is much, much better than the sound on a DVD but again you need decent kit (i.e. a relatively new home cinema amp and half decent speakers) set up properly or you're just degrading the 'great' BR sound down to the same level as the 'good' DVD sound anyway. In short, most people don't have the AV kit to see the difference between BR and properly upscaled DVD in most cases. I just like the blue boxes Jon

I've got the TV set up correctly as far as I can tell (the audio just isn't an option in my room), and it's still a 'meh' from me. Outside of the techy-types here, does anyone's friends actually buy BRs? None of mine do, and the peeps in work have about five between them, the majority not even knowing what the difference is between the formats...

I really don't like DVD. Once you get used to HD, I think it looks quite rough. I'm never buying another one. It's especially noticeable on wide-screen programs which are basically only ~200 lines per half frame on 576i compared to 720p or better. That's a massive difference, and is especially visible on complex scenes that pan.

I still have not bought a single BD disc, and expect that the first one I can get will come as a freebie with a PS3 if they still give them away. I have invested a lot in my DVD collection and will not be replacing them if I can help it.

We only get BR's as pressies for each other (especially if there the triple play version BR,DVD and digital FTMFW!!! ) but just like Amnesia there is no way I'm replacing all my DVDs. There are just too many and some of them were hard enough to get on DVD let alone BR! Especially the HK flicks and Anime.

Innit. I defy any of you to watch Potter upscaled and not have an urge to throw up. The opening cloud and customised WB is enough to make you wanna by the BD on the spot. In fact, I did. That said, lots of things look ok upscaled. As the classic trilogy is very old, I'm tempted to believe that BD would be amazing. Of course the model work could potentially look [LIFTED]! The prequels wouldn't benefit nearly as much though.
