Congenital lactose intolerance is a) extremely rare and b) almost always fatal.

If it's almost always fatal, I can see why it would be rare. Given that it's congenital and all.

The popularity of the Phillips head screw is largely due to Cadillac adopting them for car manufacturing in 1937. By 1940, 85% of American screw manufacturers had licensed the design.

I take it up until that point it had largely been straight head screws in use? If that's the case, thank [LIFTED] for Cadillac.

I quite like flathead screws, you can use almost anything on them in a crunch, unlike the Philips design.

Standard Phillips screws bug me due to the way they cam out, apparently by design. The Pozidriv is much more, err, positive.

I think the Phillips design was only patented in 1936, so before then the flathead was probably the most common.

The problem is that is their only positive side. In every other regard they are diabolical [LIFTED] of the first and second order.

Yesterday I learned how to write in 13th century English chancery hand. As in: This is the upper left corner of a charter granted to Hugh le Despenser by Richard, King of the Romans, in 1257

Fecking cool. That's something I'd love to be able to do. How did you learn?
