Hmm... I may just wait for the 24th and go and get it from the Orange store near where I work. I just got this from Orange... Means I can get it the same day and on my own contract. I'll have to see what the prices are like though as to whether I go for Orange or O2. Hmm...

I am going to have to wait. No white iPhones and Tesco are not taking orders yet. Though since I have discovered that it is best to get a contract I will look closer when I see details and prices.

Apparently the iPhone 4 has sold out in AT&T and Apple in the US and in come European countries as well. Though I cannot remember the link for the European sell out. http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/15/appl ... ngadget%29Found it http://www.cultofmac.com/first-batches- ... +of+Mac%29

Yes, it seems that July 2nd is going to be the earliest I'll be able to get my hands on a 32GB iPhone.
I still have the 16GB one reserved.
I wonder if the networks will have a separate allocation?
Is that the quickest a mobile phone has ever sold out?

I think that the first one was down to 8gb versions only after a few days. It is a remarkable achievement to sell a 4th generation of phone out so quickly. Thinking about it has it happened to anyone else ever? I do not remember any other phone selling out within a month of launch.

I was thinking that also. It has never happened to Sony Ericsson or Nokia IIRC. All versions of their new phone sold out in less than a day and that's before it's actually launched!

It is not cheap either at £499 for the 16Gb version and £599 for the 32Gb version. Yet it has sold out both versions. The UK Apple store has new shipment dates of 2nd of July for both models. In Japan where there is no online pre-order they have been queuing up to pre order.

How many have they made/sold though. Its one thing to say they sold out but another matter entirely if they only made 10 in the first place.

Considering sales of the iPhone 3GS reached one million over the launch weekend in 2009, the iPhone 4 is expected to at least match that figure. SourceI agree with the article when it says that Apple is likely going for some sort of advance sales record. It seemingly likes being first with these numbers as a way of thumbing it's nose at the rest of the business, for good or for bad. Mark

Brilliant! I'll be sticking with Orange then https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... Mcmc&hl=enI've put up a spreadsheet comparing total cost over the full term. It also shows the cost per month including the phone cost over the full term. Very interesting! I'll be going for the 32GB £30 24 month contract I think.
