My room has two separate power supplies. The air-con is on a timed circuit, overnight  , and the others are on 24/7. I used a 4-gang adaptor so I could use the air-con (fan only) all day, otherwise it gets stifling. Today I find that the management have replaced the air-con plug to the original socket and glued it in place!

You could always cut the flex and rewire a new plug and then glue that into the socket that you want...

That reminds me of the storage heaters I had at uni. I extended the cable so I could rearrange the furniture and the block I used was stainless stell rather than copper. The steel got so hot the plastic around the block melted! I could just open the window but I have signs up recommending against it when I am out, but nothing mentioning the rationed electricity.

And now I have memories of hiding fish fillets in other peoples heaters. :D

The anxiety of having to find someone to take my room in Kentish Town before next rent is due is killing me slowly.
Currently having terrible tension headaches and feeling sick.

Good luck!

[LIFTED] 4x4 drivers.
Picked the car up yesterday after having the wing repaired, off for a drive.
Nice afternoon, drove down to a local beach with ideas of sun and a cold drink.
The hill down to the beach is quite steep, and there's a couple of very interesting corners. (Clicky to see what I mean.)
Discovery coming down the hill, made it clear he wasn't going to move, so I had to reverse back around the bend, and I managed to find the wall. I'll be needing more body work attending to now.

The day after I get her back from the garage having the front wing sorted too...

If you were going uphill, you have right of way.

Well, not exactly right of way. Rule 155 says you should "give way to vehicles coming uphill whenever you can".

Still, I agree with Alex's general sentiment regarding 4x4 drivers. Like many BMW and Merc drivers, they seem to think they have more rights than the rest of us.

The universe moves in interesting ways - just had a call from a friend who needs some corporate head shots doing for the firm he's just moved to.
Which should cover the repairs nicely.

I have an ISA with Legal and General. Every six months, they send a statement. This tells me how much I've paid in each month (fixed amount) and the types/price/unit of shares bought. It doesn't tell me how much I've invested, what my savings are approximately worth at the time of statement nor how long I've been saving for.

Just got a letter from HR - always a bad sign.

Effective from November, they're moving our salary payment date back. So, instead of the 25th, we'll get paid on the 3rd of the following month. Which means we're only getting paid eleven times this year. Of course this has nothing to do with the company saving a month's wages in order to hit a cash target by the end of december; which determines whether the CEO gets his £1m bonus.

So, now, 5,000 employees probably have to shuffle their direct debit and mortgage payment dates; on a whim.

I'd consider having that reach the local press if that's the case, though I'd be wary of what's been said on internal systems ;)
