I'm supposed to pick the gf from work, but I can't find my coat. Oh well I'll improvise somehow.

Awww, that's so sweet of you! To clarify my weirdness in case anyone cares, I knew I had a short window between temperatures too cold to put water on my car and rain. The disgusting state of the snow/grit combo on Sunday had left my baby with a thin, dried on film of dirt primarily along the bottom half of her paint. So as soon as it hit 3 degrees at lunchtime, I was out on it. Fingers were very, very cold, but I gave her a good seeing to before the rain hit. Now the two coats of wax and hydrophobic polymer technology will keep her beading and protected from the elements over night. Hopefully, if the roads dry up tomorrow and the temp stays above 5, there will be no grit, no wet and no dirt to get all over my sparkly paint and wheels Of course, that's unlikely, but still possible and hence I made a point of doing what I did. Weird - I know

You're apparently due a balmy 8 or 9 degrees tomorrow.

When we had our mx5 pro mopped, the guy suggested autoglym hd. I have little experience of many waxes, but it's pretty damn good. It comes in a really cool pack too, which makes it nearly seem worth the 40 quid.

Hmm. I think I'll stick with the Collinite/Pete's 53 combo for now. ION, it's raining here.

Well that bit's just fancy talk for Megs UQD. That's what it says on the label. Always made me laugh! It really is rather good (and I bought it in the States when it launched in '07 for half price, so bonus). Silver doesn't show anything as nice as Pete's. So rather than waste money, I use Collinite 476s for wax and then bung the UQD on top. Looks great, doesn't take all day and offers very good protection. If I had my old Mystic Blue MK3 I would probably be employing a more extensive and nerdier regimen - chicks dig shiny pearlescent Mind you, they don't seem to mind a silver, practical family hatchback either..... Tidy car, dirty mind

Yeah, tipping down here too, but doesn't seem to be washing away the snow which is strange.

I regard Pete's as a show wax. It just doesn't seem to last half as well as the Collinite - I'm talking a week tops. Which is a shame.
