If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yeah, the battery on mine lasts ages.
I have the light on the lowest setting. I don't need the screen to be bright white, and the lowest level is perfect for reading in a pitch black cabin at work.

I'd go with the Kindle Reader as well, for reading.

Battery life is really in the region of 24 hours though. Comparing 8 weeks based on 30 mins a day to 13 hours use for a smartphone is a whole load of BS.

Either way, it's way longer than anything with a colour screen at doesn't use e-ink.

Once there is a colour e ink tablet it will dominate the sales of text books and comics, especially if there was a retina level resolution.

You do realise that what you're describing is a tablet, don't you? :?

Indeed it would. Though I'd be happy with a retina level of normal e-ink.
My Kindle paperwhite is almost perfect. I'd just like a fraction higher resolution on the screen.

Wouldn't the Kobo Aura HD fit that specification?

I do. Though colour e-ink tablets would be great for graphic novels or magazines. Colour tablets obviously exist, but the power drain is immense compared to a colour e-ink reader, so not so great for travelling.

Maybe. I haven't looked.
But I wouldn't buy another ebook reader now I have one. Not unless it breaks anyway.

They are also not so comfortable to read. A backlit display is not so easy to read as a normal piece of paper or eInk.
