Got a PPI call today from real human being telling me they have money to be refunded to me. I ask who from, and he says they can't tell me because of data protection
When I call him on it, he keeps repeating his stock script, but I insist that he tells me who owes me the money and won't let the point go, until he tells me to "Shut my face" so he can speak.
When I then refuse to speak any more to him and demand to speak to a manager, I am told to "fcuk off" and he hangs up on me!!!!!

I was just surprised it went so quickly, entire call lasted less than 5 minutes. I would normally have hung up straight away but this is the first time I've had a real person.

I might actually put in a prospective claim personally, not through any PPI claims company. I do not expect anything, because for the last decade I have been disabled so I could not have even claimed anything so why pay out in the first place? I might just do it incase they did it anyway. :?

Not only PPI, but pretty much all the stuff you see advertised on daytime TV - ambulance chasing solicitors, payday loans (and their relatives), various small time lotteries.

There is this underbelly of outfits - I really can't think of a term to describe them - that seem to latch onto various get money now models and relentlessly push them. I have had phone calls about PPI, "that recent accident someone in the household has had", government grants for home insulation, not to mention the Windows virus calls. All annoying, pointless and certainly not getting past initial lines in the script.

Despite being registered on TPS, we still get these calls, and I have taken to use the answer machine for screening. If it's important, they will leave a message and I'll get back to them.

I had one the other day.

A voice via satellite from the Indian subcontinent tells me he is calling about my loan.

I asked which loan this was, and was told it was a personal loan I took out recently. I complained that I couldn't hear him properly, that the satellite had a 1 second delay and I could hear my voice as an echo. Which loan again? I then explained that I have no personal loans of any kind - which is completely true - said he was talking utter b*ll*cks and hung up.

I wonder if I was the most pleasant person he tried to speak to that day.

That's what I do with any un-recognised number.

Just had a call about my evening course that was supposed to start tonight. It has been re-scheduled to start next Thursday. :x

I think that the TPS now requires you re apply annually. I signed up years ago but still get such calls and texts. Though my records my show that I am now longer covered so I might have to reapply. :(

It turns out my numbers were already registered, now to look at stopping all those "our records show you have had an accident in the last three years" texts.

If that is the case with the TPS then they have never sent me a reminder to re-register.

Edit: just looked at the TPS site. Your number is always registered as long as it is live.

Do I need to renew my subscription with the TPS?

No, the service is intended for live telephone numbers. As such, provided your telephone number remains active it will remain registered with this free service.

There is another site you can register with, the name if which slips my mind at the moment.

We signed up in July, and haven't had a call in weeks (it takes about 30 days to kick in).

It's unlikely to be an actual satellite delay. Most likely it's Voice over IP, and it takes a while for all the packets to wiggle their way over the internet to you and back again.

</totally irrelevant>
