But it sounds as though you were resigned to it already which is a luxury you don't normally get in these types of situations.

Keep kissing Frogs, you'll get there eventually!

Oh No, What's the problem? Have you managed to steer her to "we had a good time, it's just not right and I don't want it to drag on and end up hurting us both more" yet?

I've just pointed out that I can't offer her what she wants.
It's like I'm personally responsible for her personal happiness. It's all 'Yay I love spending time with you! You make me so happy!' and then last night I had:
'what are you doing?'
'Editing photos sadly, pretty tired.'
'that's a shame'
'why's it a shame?'
'I'm alone for a few hours'
'Want me come over?'
'always nice to see you but please don't worry, i've got cleaning to be getting on with'
'Ok, if you're sure...'
'I'm fine, no worries'

Then at 11pm I send the usual 'Night, sleep well' text which is returned with a 'Nite x' and two minutes later:
'I get the feeling you haven't got space for me in your life'

There's more after that - she 'tracked' me on facebook and accuses me of chatting to everyone else but her (she means a friend I've not seen in months because she moved to Ireland).

I've just had enough. It's draining. Surely relationships should be a positive nourishing thing for each other? Not like this? Suspicious and accusatory? I could understand that if we were married and I'd been caught with lipstick on my collar...

Sounds very childish. Tell her that.

That's the end really. She'd quite possibly be checking your mobile phone for suspicious texts too. Seems endemic these days.

Dear L3v1ck,
Why do oil rigs have towers with flames coming out of them?

Yours Sincerely,

Flaring off. On a day to day basis, very little will be vented/flared if the gas is shipped via pipeline. However if it's an oil platform that uses ships to transport oil rather than pipeline, the small amount of gas produced can't be shipped as there's no way to keep it under pressure, so it's flared off.
On gas platforms there can be pressure variations. Equipment works best at constant pressures, so they may flare off a bit of excess.
Also if there's ever a sudden shutdown of something on the platform, it's often more economical to leave the wells open and flare everything off for a short period, rather than shutting them all in as it can take a long time to get production back up to full flow from the wells.
On mobile drilling rigs (that don't produce), you may see flaring if they're doing a well test before they run pipelines to the nearest production platform.

I've been on a platform where they've been flaring everything off for a short time, the noise and heat was unbelieveable. Hence the need for the size of the flare boom.

That's quite possibly the most interesting post I've seen in years.

Shortly off to Berlin for a stag do. Hopefully not going to any of the clubs I read about in the sunday times magazine a couple of weeks ago!

I feel sorry for people with no bums. Must be very uncomfortable when they sit down.

That awkward moment when you're still getting texts as if nothing's happened from an ex because they don't believe you've broken up.

How about this for a reply: "Stop Stalking Me You Creepy Freak".
