As she is in a Princess Leia costume wouldn't the Star Wars thread be more appropriate?

She's not though. That looks nothing like the outfit Carrie Fisher wore... A swimsuit with a few bits of ironwork glued to it does not a Princess Leia costume make. Fisher wore a bikini with what I'd suppose you'd call a loincloth. That is a one piece without one. It's as near to the Leia outfit as me in a pair of cycling shorts. I should add that I find Kelly Brook's level of notoriety utterly perplexing and that 'Princess Leia slave costume' gets an astonishingly large number of hits on google. Jon

On all the web sites that I have seen Kelly in that costume it is referred to as the Princess Leia costume. Though copying it exactly might be a copyright issue so they modified it sufficiently to avoid a payment.

+1! Rubbish! Search Flickr for fans at conventions wearing the Princess Leia bikini and you'll find hundreds of images. Copyright had nothing to do with this. It's just a lazy FAIL. I'd much rather see someone copy something faithfully than try a half-arsed attempt like this. Mark

I suppose the difference for copyright is whether it is being done for commercial gain. Fan art gets away with many a copyright. Also my first thought wasn't Leia, because it looks nothing like her.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Depends whose sandpit you are playing in. George Lucas is happy for people to roll their own Star Wars stuff as long as they don’t make money from it. Paramount famously stomped on all Star Trek fan sites in the 1990’s for doing what the Star Wars fans were doing: posting pictures of original crew, sets and models. However, they seem happy for Star Trek: The New Adventures (or whatever they are called) fan films to be made, so they must be softening their world view.
