It's staggering isn't it?
One of the first things that goes through my mind whenever I hear a report of a war casualty on the news is how unbelievably lightly we're getting off. Down here, having the Navy and Marines being the local fixture, we do get reports on the local news whenever they're killed. Can you imagine what that would've been like in WWI or WWII?

My colleague and I were talking about exactly that yesterday.

After a draining week and a particularly draining day, I went home, had fish'n'chips and am now in bed, in the dark. Ordinarily, I'd cope fine but this weekend is the first time I'll be working a weekend in over a year. The following weekend I'm picking up family from the airport so will have to deal with that. Meh.

Chickens!! Our eight girls are arriving on the 24th March and the work on the run begins this weekend! We're going to get the timber treatment and get all the wood materials well-coated while the weather's good, and get the chooky house treated and kitted out. I am also going to do a bit of arty stuff on the chicken house to make it a bit individual and I'm hoping the weather holds out for that as well. I'm getting a bit excited now, I've been holding off because it's been so far in the future, but it's only 2 weeks away now *squee*

That twice this week I've stopped watching a TV show because of a particular guest - my cringe reflex is shocking

Just how many more shifts I can get away with no drilling for. One more for certain. Maybe two.

Missing cat. One of ours didn't come home lat night and we've not seen her today either. We've asked the neighbours to keep an eye out for her.
She's done such sojourns before, but not for a couple of years. There are a couple of new cats in the area throwing their weight around so I think there are some territory disputes going on.

Cat's come back. So we're happy here now. The cat, of course, is wondering what all the fuss was about. She did get some tuna though, so she's happy.

Because we're about to start drilling a high pressure high temperature reservoir with at least two formations with depleted formation pressure from production. It's going to be a major pain the the arse with a high potential for differential sticking.

Nope. It's my problem. The question is: How many shifts do I have to put with it before I go home? Then it becomes somebody elses problem for three weeks.
