Took the car in for a repair and MOT re-test.

Surprise, surprise, they've found something else that's going to cost me money.

"balance out your festive fun with job-hunting joy"

I'm sick of this sort of [LIFTED] in my inbox; why does everything about jobs and work have to be so fake?

Youngest daughter's Micra back in the garage again... It has had the Lamda sensor replaced twice in 3 weeks, now the engine warning light came on again! Hopefully we will get it back properly repaired this time!

Oh for the days when cars were simple mechanical devices that didn't need to sense lambdas. If your fan belt went, you could get home by whipping off your tights as a quick repair. You could gap the distributor with your thumbnail. You could change the spark plugs, because you could actually see where they were attached to the engine.

Happy days.

I changed my spark plugs on my car and it's a 57-plate Golf. Obviously you have to remove the engine cover which is always the most difficult bit but once done, it's like any other engine.

You'd have to be an incredibly leggy girl for your tights to substitute a serpentine belt found in most cars these days.

Perhaps nostalgia isn't what it used to be, Heather, because I think the average distance travelled using tights was only three to four miles, before they snapped and wrapped themselves around the shaft (according to some trivia thing I read many moons ago).

BTW, morning all.

To change the spark plugs in in my car, you actually have to take the engine out.
If I didn't know better I'd think it was designed by an Italian

Ah but the funny looks I used to get taking my tights off on the side of the road ;) :o

You have to remove the inlet plenum on mine due to being a transversely mounted v6. The front bank is easily accessible after unbolting the cover, so you have to watch out for lazy garages not changing the rear bank.

We will be keeping an eye on youtube for evidence that you have had such problems.

Not a chance, can't justify a car in any way, shape or form...
