It's a town in Russia. It's been abandoned since the nuclear power plant blew up something over 10 years ago. They do tours - you'd probably love it.

That's funny because I no longer want to make my own cups of tea, I want forum members to purchase the bags for me, boil the water, add the milk and bring the cup to my room.

Why when a baby is born everyone talks about how much mass it has? Couldn't give a [LIFTED] how heavy a baby is to be honest.

YES! I was waiting for someone to say that, Chernobyl is not actually a town or any place, its the name of the reactor IIRC? PRIPYAT is the actual name/place of disaster yet nearly EVERYONE thinks the place is called "Chernobyl" I bet noone really knows what Chernobyl really stands for you lost your mind? what you ranting on about? my thoughts exactly, same when people say how cute and adorable they are. WRONG WRONG WRONG, AND BLATANT LIARS because newborn babys are ugly little freaks, its not til they get a little older they start looking "beautiful" I describe my sisters new baby as a "worm/slug with legs and arms" it doesn't go down too well

The UN say the total Chernobyl death toll is 64, a Soviet publication says it is over 900,000.
Who to believe?

It's an indication of how healthy the baby is. An underweight baby is likely to have either been premature, poorly in utero, or may not survive as well after birth. There's also evidence that demonstrates that links between a baby's birthweight and their future health. Problems such as obesity, heart disease, asthma etc may be all linked to a low birthweight and then a rapid increase in weight to normal weight. However, I suspect most people are just interested in their babies being happy and healthy. Anything above a normal range is more for showing off.

Depends how you count it - deaths from the explosion and the immediate aftermath, or the ongoing deaths from cancer? Had a group of children in work the other day, as part of a scheme that brings them over, live with a foster family for a few months, get their eyes and teeth checked out and so forth. A chance for some quality of life before they'll all almost certainly die from the thyroid cancer they have. Just terrible. 10 years ago? More like 25, JJ.

I would count the number of people who have died because of Chernobyl like this: the number of people who have died because of Chernobyl.
