Dog fouling: Belfast City Council's call to amend legislation fails

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-26120449

Yet another thing those increasingly expensive plastic bags get used for, though it's a load of nonsense in Belfast anyway since nobody in their right mind carries it for ages looking for a suitable bin.

I suspect that it will be used to raise revenue for the council.

Jaywalking: How the car industry outlawed crossing the road

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26073797

They'd look sweet trying to enforce a dedicated crossing rule in Belfast. For one thing there isn't enough cops. Secondly, they'd start a mini riot even if there were

Not to mention that buying a pint of milk could see you having to backtrack on yourself

They already have some exoskeleton suits in use mainly as test beds for logistics. Being able to move large loads in the field, adding a bullet proof casing seems like a logical next step.

I've succumbed to the Hallmark holiday that is Valentine's Day. Seeing a girl for a few months. Grown close over the last few months. Bought a card, tiny teddy and roses. Hope it's well received.

When I was younger and still cared, Valentine's cards were sent anonymously. That was the point of them. You'd receive a card from someone who perhaps had a crush on you, but you might never know who it was, or you'd send one to someone you fancied but you didn't sign it. When did it become a thing to just give cards and all the associated gooey stuff to someone you're already in a relationship with?

When shops like Clinton's decided to use guilt to sell their stuff. Same as Christmas cards. They were originally meant to be sent to people you were not going to see over Christmas, e.g. overseas relatives. Now it's just a case of people pretty much swapping cards just so the card companies benefit.

Feck knows. Certainly I've never known it to be anything other than someone giving someone they care/love/like a card/flowers/chocs/gifts.

I quite agree. though I get an amazing amount of grief for not kowtowing to currents norms of behaviour. Is this abuse?

We didn't swap cards this year. Having said that we have, for a few years now, printed out the tesco extra value card which you can download from the internetz, using copier paper not card. Same goes for birthday cards. Also, I absolutely refuse to buy flowers for valentines day. There's another 364 or so days in the year. I prefer to surprise her, not conform to social convention and pay the extortionate rate that florists charge.

Sent from my big ass Sony Xperia Z Ultra tabphonelet, using Tapatalk 4.
