Sneaky gits at Lovefilm making you phone up to cancel, knowing full well people are filled with dread about call centres. And with good reason, not that that will stop me cancelling.

Going out to a customer's site tomorrow to update their RF scanners with the new client and to set up their internal FTP properly. To do this I will require the Implementation laptop which is loaded with all the goodies I need. Except the Project Manager has taken it home. So I have to set off for work at 0620 so that I can set up what I need on another laptop before driving for 90 minutes in the other direction. Apparently it's my fault for not telling her that I would need the implentation equipment to carry out an implementation.

Gah! Bloody Microsoft! What do they have against secure passwords?
Set up other half's PC with Windows 8, she likes it. Set up an outlook.com account for her, so that everything is linked. Fine. Get her to enter her password, it is too long! We have to cut off around 12 characters from the total length of the password.
Then it has "unallowed characters" in it!
WTF?!? How are you supposed to create a secure password, if it has to be short and can't include special characters? (In fact, the "special characters" in question, after much trial and error are Umlauts! Hardly "special", they are part of the standard alphabet over here.
So, my girlfriend, having taking to heart what I told her about passwords has a long password, including lowercase, uppercase, special characters and numbers and she can remember it, but it is too long for Microsoft and it contains special characters they don't like! No wonder accounts are easy to hack these days!

Ordered new GPU and RAM from Dabs yesterday...
Get an email today for their "January Coupons" which would save me £10... there's only 3 days left in January and your Coupon expires in exactly one week... what the hell have you been doing Dabs...
And then their website won't let me cancel the order so i had to phone them up.
And it's still not cancelled yet... they'll get back to me, they said.

That's pretty dire. I ordered my NAS and WD TV thing from dabs and all arrived quickly without any issues.

Yeah, they've been fine before, but this was silly. In the end, they cancelled the RAM, but were unable to cancel the GPU. As such, i have to wait for the GPU to arrive and refuse it before they can refund my order. *sigh*. EDIT: Oh, and the RAM has conveniently gone up in price by £10...

I know it's basically the end of January, but is anyone else finding time dragging or is it just me?

Went to Starbucks this morning. We go there regularly and are chatty with the staff. I noticed that a thread on my new gloves (SealSkinz) was unravelling around the cuff part of the glove. I asked the girl behind the counter if she had any scissors. She did, I held up the gloves with the thread and she grabbed the thread with the scissors (which didn't cut it) and then pulled out about a metre of thread!!! FFS! My gloves are now ruined. I only bought them 2 weeks ago and they're fracking expensive. Will be taking them back to the shop I got them from at lunchtime to see if they'll exchange them (not sure if I can find my receipt though)

I got paid last Friday, there is almost a whole week of January that bites into my Feb budget... I think I preferred it when I was paid weekly...

January is normally a slow month for me, but I cannot believe how fast this January has gone.

There's no way of saying 'I'm not that excited about it' without sounding like a twat, but safe to say it's not that
