I'm currently in a hostel whilst I can get a feel for the area I'm living in, and deciding on what sort of accommodation to seek in the longer term. The choices I have are (in order of cost):

Rent a room in a sharehouse - Probably no say in the comings and goings of the landlord and their friends.

Rent a two bed apartment/house and rent a room to A. N. Other - Having a big say in who, when, where friends come around.

Rent a single room apartment and have total ownership/responisibility for everything.

I've generally got no problem living with other people. I can live and sleep through noise, light, etc. better than most people (it helps having lived and worked on boats for a period). But I'm also happy living by myself.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

You've got the choice?
You're definitely not in London then.

That is 4 miles of beach. I've been here two days and they have been the two coldest days of the year so far. Well if you can call 14 degrees cold that is. ;)

Say what?! Right, Matt - could I please have an explanation as to the funding of this excitement?! How do you go from Jutland to down there in a few weeks???

I've been invited to join a boat crew, for a race, during Cowes week.

I've been given my contract, TOS etc. All added up, the paperwork is more than any medical textbook I own (and some run to 1000+ pages) though mercifully all single sided. On top of this, I have a presentation to do for next Tuesday.

I really hope it's a $hitty weekend weather-wise so I can stay indoors to get it all done.

Two things:

A. Are we ever going to get decent enough weather to finish the duck run and get the foul fowl out of the house?
2. Why are seemingly intelligent people such total F**cktards when it comes to denial? (Not just a river in Egypt - although most of it's actually in Sudan)

a) No. I think this weekend might've actually made my mind up about the Spain offer.
2) I'm actually intelligent, but I still a total f**cktard about a whole bunch of things. It's annoying (for me and plenty of other people), but true.

In the last couple of years in the UK and Denmark I've had lots of trouble finding decent work. It's come to the point that I had to work as savings had been gnawed to the bone. I spent what little I had on an airfare and renewing all of the courses I needed to teach diving, and found myself a good job in less than two weeks from arrival.

In fact I have a a private course with two young ladies tomorrow.

How relieved I am at losing some bids on ebay.

I've been waiting ages for a raspberry pi and was wound up at having to wait weeks to even pre-order. Then my boss gets his. This wound me up further to the point I started bidding on ebay. The first 10 or so slipped through my fingers, so today I placed five bids simultaneously. The first two I lost, the third I won, and then I had to wait for the last two. I might've ended up with having to shell out for more than I wanted to. Thankfully, the last two I was outbid.

Incidentally, the chap I bought mine from was very helpful and emailed me some useful info.

Peep! specifically how 'normous he is now.

This was him only a month ago:

And this is the same duckling yesterday:

Image

Almost all of his grown-up feathers, a proper quack most of the time, which means I have to start calling him "her" and over a foot tall!!

The good thing is that the duck run is all but finished and they are outside in it during the day now. 8-)

My best mate is emigrating to Australia in a month.
I'm happy for him but it sucks for us all here.
