Gah! Dropped a beer tent table on my foot! Landed on my big toe, which keeps getting gout. The nail is a lovely shade of blue.

Doesn't seem to be broken though, and I have a doctor's appointment monday before work anyway.

Mark up rates for a variety of products in Australia. I doubt the UK is much different.

Product type Average mark-up
Clothes and shoes 142%
Other manufactured products 97%
Electrical and electronic goods 85%
Furniture 76%
Books newspapers and magazines 52%
Fresh food 47%
DVDs and music 40%
All goods wholesale or retail mark- up 65%

Dive gear is also around 100% from experience.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Just watched the Champions League final from last night. Won't talk about the footy but the best shot of the whole night was one where Michel Platini, Head of UEFA and famous ex footballer, was sat watching the game looking horrendously bored despite it being a good game. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact he was sat next to Nick Clegg.

I have installed Xubuntu (hence the av change)

I wanted an Xfce desktop and SUSE's just wasn't up to much. Xubuntu however is lovely.

The electrical thing doesn't apply in the UK. Brown goods have got virtually zero margin in them by the time the street price has been slashed from list to entice customers. £1000 TVs for example often have less than 10% in them by the time they're shipped.

However, here in Lanzarote there's probably about 400% in most things. The other day, a colleague stupidly paid €0.80 for a single CD-R

Aye, the lead lass has made a very good investment. Very different to how she looked on the X factor in 2007:

Now (from the Mail, far right again)
