I wondered about that too, but then the story I read was from the DM, so I'm none the wiser really

Just had a google. The airport bit was filmed on a different day from the rest and was fully planned with the airport.

I'm getting a bit peed off with the fakery tbh, there's times where the news section is the funniest bit on it, and God knows how much of that is scripted... There's times when I feel like I'm in a bad American film

Thing is though that nothing has changed. Everything on the show since the new format has been set up. The only thing that happened is that they ran out of ways to get "caught" by the police and it's getting repetetive now.

I know, but it used to be done with more skill Probably cos there was less worrying going on about the budget, that's my best guess

I guess that when they make a minor slip-up, it's more likely to be real, but grand stunts like the Norwich airport bit are so obviously set up that it takes all of the fun out of it.
For example, perhaps they deliberately planned to break the caravan when they were leaving the petrol station (a long, long time ago) or perhaps it really was an accident. At least it was simple and believable either way.
The caravan fire did leave me wondering a bit (I know the truth of that now) but the airport bit was so much that it was cringeworthy, not funny.

Public note to Jeremy Clarkson. Thanks a lot, you doughnut! I'd just abnout talked the wife into letting me get a Hawk kit car, (I know someone who could put it together for me) and now she's convinced that they are all "put together put a man in a shed in Nuneaton. That's another few months of convincing ahead of me then... Once again, thanks Jezza, you bloody pillock! PS. If anyone does actually know him, could you kindly point out this post, and tell him to contact Mrs. V and tell her he made it up? Thanks

I'd kind of given up with Top Gear TBH. Thought I'd give it another go as I used to love it so much, but watched about half of it last night and turned over. It's too samey.

I know it's been fake for a while, but it's become much more obvious in the last few series.

But you must have missed Stiggy running the Stratosalike round the wet track mostly backwards. I actually quite enjoyed the show. Some of the "dramatic" bits with the airship caravan were obviously a put-up job, but still. Overall, the whole Lancia sequence was worth watching.

That just made me want one even more. And not. Both at the same time. There is something in building your own car that really, really appeals. However, my skills are such that I doubt I could ever do a proper, safe job, and my other half would fret about me in a self-built car. She was bothered by my Caterham 7 phase. I was that close to getting one.
