I've just been given The Dark Knight Returns as a present.
Seems there's a fair bit of the backstory that I don't know about.

I had a nice big book delivered on Saturday. I'm happy with it. That's all that matters.

Rather than starting up a new thread, I figured I'd post in here. Downloaded kindle on to my iPhone. Got a few books bu they're more factual/analytical. Having had a crap week, am in need of some amusing books. Would prefer humurous anecdotes/stories rather than a joke book. Any recommendations?

^Have you read Spike Milligan's series of war memoirs? If they're available to download I'd thoroughly recommend them.

Nicola just bought me Ricky Gervais Presents the World of Karl Pilkington. I've listened to quite a few of the podcasts but I'm still glad she bought me it.

Read a couple of gns over the last few days - Painkiller Jane Vs. Terminator and Batman: Heart of Hush (which I'd misplaced), both very good in their own ways Have to catch up with FHM, Empire and a few DC comics now... EDIT - Oh yes, ordered pretty much the entire Painkiller Jane gn back catalogue and The Boys Vol. 7, some of which should be here before Xmas

I raced through the Bourne Identity last week, as I posted in another thread. I'm struggling to make headway into the Bourne Supremacy. Am also reading Bad Science - got as far as the third chapter but at the mo, I've learnt nothing new.

Just finished Samuel Pepys: The Unequalled Self, a biography by Claire Tomalin. Very interesting, especially the parts dealing with the Plague and the Great Fire. Worth reading for the account of Pepys having a kidney stone removed from his bladder. No anaesthetic or even alcohol to help one through the ordeal, just four men to hold the patient down while the doctor gets to work with a knife. Currently listening to a Librivox reading of The Return Of Fu Manchu by Sax Rohmer.
