Coca-Cola drinking 'linked to New Zealander's death'

Quote:
Drinking large quantities of Coca-Cola was a "substantial factor" in the death of a 30-year-old woman in New Zealand, a coroner has said.

Natasha Harris, who died three years ago after a cardiac arrest, drank up to 10 litres of the fizzy drink each day. This is twice the recommended safe limit of caffeine and more than 11 times the recommended sugar intake.

Ms Harris drank Coke throughout her waking hours and her teeth had been removed because of decay.

More from the BBC here.

Careful, pcernie!

I saw that and was wondering whether a sweepstake would be appropriate for Ernie's eventual demise.

I wouldn't worry I think pcernies body has adapted to the same as a camel, instead his "hump" is his beerbelly and so he can digest the coke as slowly as he wants

Just filled the Camaro ready for tomorrows photo exploits, and thanks to the new bits n pieces I've fitted, she's now returning 18.1 mpg on the urban run to work which given that it involves a lot of hill climbing, I'm quite pleased with.
As I'm doing a bit of motorway tomorrow, I'll be interested to see what I'm getting on the more leggy stretches.

It's OK, I've switched to cans

No, even I'm not on 10 litres a day. And the funny thing is, I've got better teeth than the guy next to me in work who drinks nothing but water and Ribeena :?

For an urban run that mpg seems pretty good. Have you tried some of the other techniques that hypermilers use?

She's an automatic, so some of them are out of the question, but I tend to stick to a pulse and glide approach to the throttle, and reading the road so I never come to a complete halt if I can help it so the car's inertia does a lot of the work.

Have you tried increasing the tyre pressure? Reading the road helps a lot. If you avoid accelerating and braking it saves a lot more fuel. Apparently people in the states get also addicted to the who process and get really good at lowering their fuel consumption.

Funny you should post that. Just been reminiscing about the good ol' days in the 80s when TV was cool and I was a young kid enjoying (most of) my childhood. Sometimes I wish I could relive some of my childhood experiences.

If I'd known what was coming I'd have enjoyed my childhood even more

The stuff I used to watch still holds up in the main, whether cartoons or sitcoms.

Mine too and I pulse and glide as well, plus looking ahead. In fact, the garage were amazed, I just had the 60,000KM service and they didn't even have to warn me that the brake pads are running low - still the original pads the car was delivered with.

Have you tried an iPad? There are loads of resellers and Apple stores where they are sold and you could try it out.
