After two or three sentences I knew they were talking horse hockey! For a start, we pay less than half a cent per page for toner and as the Gizmodo page says, most of the printing is done on presses, not copiers or inkjets.

I went to the dentist today for the first time in 15 years. It could have been worse, I had a piece of one of my molars crack off about 6 years ago and it really hasn't bothered me in all that time. I got a clean and polish, had x-rays done and have to go back in a month to have my temporary filling made permanent. Not a bad experience. I have also been advised to floss daily (at the end of the day) and also to brush my gums more effectively.
I didn't know, but apparently the brushing of the gums is at least as important as the teeth when it comes to plaque and inflammation. As a consequence, I have been told to give up my little kids toothbrush (at the ripe old age of 38) and buy a grown-up toothbrush so that I can brush my back teeth and gums properly. I stopped using an adult toothbrush about 20 years ago because it made my gums bleed, but apparently it's ok for my gums to bleed and Dentist-Lady doesn't even recommend a mouthwash for keeping things clean. ION thoughts on brushing technique have changed since I last darkened the door of a dentist. Now, I have been told to brush my teeth with a fluoride toothpaste for sensitive teeth (pro-namel or the like, which we already use due to the orange juice effect) BUT I am not supposed to rinse my mouth afterwards, just spit out the toothpaste and leave it there.
How times have changed!

I've recently heard about not rinsing your mouth after. That was news to me too. I've been advised to brush my gums so that they are encouraged to grow as I've managed to cause receding gum lines through aggressive brushing.

I was first told this six months ago by my dentist. It was the first time I'd ever heard such oddness too. I haven't yet done this as it just seems too weird - surely you should rinse your mouth out to get rid of all the loosened food/plaque/whatever that the brushing created. Anyway, got another visit next week for a check-up so I'll see what gets said to me then. Mark

Well, I'm going to try it tonight before bed, looking forward to that brush as it'll get rid of the last vestiges of the fluoride treatment my molars got today which, combined with the chalky temporary filling before it hardened properly, has left my mouth feeling and tasting very odd and feeling as though I've got 'stuff' stuck in my teeth....which of course I have, it's just fluoride instead of 'stuff'

I read this on the side of a tube of toothpaste a while ago. I did try it but I seemed to wake up with my mouth feeling a bit... claggy.

You've always never rinsed your mouth out after brushing? I can honestly say that no, it has never occured to me to not rinse my mouth out after brushing. Mark

I rinse, simply because I am somehow allergic to something in toothpaste that makes my tongue swell up. I think it's the mint flavourings. Currently using Colgate herbal and that seems to help

Quite often, when people are "allergic" to a drug, it's not typically the drug but the bindings and fillers used.
EDIT: ION - my girlfriend/future fiancee is coming to visit me at my workplace. This is a first for any relationship I've had and am very nervous. I've cleaned my desk up and not sure what else to do.

I appreciate in your case there are confidentiality issues, but the best thing you can do is just do your job. Most likely he's there because she's curious about what you do, so there's no point trying to do something else - that's just giving her something she doesn't actually want or need. And doing your job is something you're good at and you know well, so that's going to help with nerves thing too. She's there out of curiosity and because she wants to spend time with you. If you're actually at the 'future fiance' stage, it's pretty likely she'd be OK with you concentrating on the job as long as you didn't actively ignore her. Jon

Whoo, Good Luck Make sure you offer her a drink of something! ION: I tried not rinsing my mouth for the first time last night before bed. It made me really want a long drink of water, but that feeling wasn't so bad when I did it again this morning. My new adult toothbrush is making my gums bleed as expected, but I'm just coping

Make sure your office isn't a total dump, make sure you've got a drink & biscuits available and just be yourself. Also make sure the lock on the door works
