They are no better or worse than anyone else. Though it looks like ultimately that the whole US tech sector will suffer as a result of the NSA spy scandals. IBM had a collapse in hardware sales of 40% in China as a result of NSA revalations. Oracle had similar collapses in sales.

Cisco has also had problems with collapsing sales.

But it comes to something when Microsoft actually have a point about Google. MS might not be much better, but Google's 'do no evil' motto seems to have a list of caveats longer than the iTunes terms and conditions!

Aren't dash 7's classed as STOL aircraft?

Yes they are but the rate of climb was incredible. It seemed to take off at 40 degrees, bigger jets seem to have a more sedate rate of climb.

I suspect the climb rate is more to do with the noise regulations for the area surrounding any given airport rather than the capabilities of the plane itself.
I imagine the angle of climb will be based on fuel economy unless they are required to climb faster.

Anyone else noticed their Outlook.com TV adds also taking a swipe at Google?

It probably is to reduce noise. The aircraft is clearly capable of such a steep climb and probably could go steeper but it might frighten the passengers.

I do think that Google are getting to the point of turning the public slowly against them. I have actually switched my default search engine to Bing.

An... interesting choice of alternative. You'd be better off with duckduckgo.
