Yes but I have amnesia and have already forgotten what the trailer was about.

I know what’s coming up too - it’s been known about for a while, but it’s exciting nonetheless. See - no spoilers here this time.

The script was decidedly unfunny for someone of the pedigree of Simon Nye's ability. This episode didn't really engage me as much as the premiss suggested it should. I don't really know if that's a failing of me getting my hopes up or of the script for not dealing with the story in a manner befitting it. What this episode did do for me was deliver the thinking Doctor that this season has so far been missing. Manic and unpredictable are all well and good, but The Doctor is also a thinker and this episode had that going for it. Mid-season filler is what this episode felt like to me. The preceding six episodes (particularly the two-part Lonely Assassins story) were all stronger episodes, in my opinion. Mark

I thought it was rather good, the end was a bit of a let down but it was still really taking. What an ugly ponytail tho!

The very end was a revelation of the preceding 45 minutes (or however long it was). Mark

Indeed. And thanks for the thoughts. Perhaps your expectations were the enemy? As you know, I don't watch the next week crap and have no prior knowledge of Nye. Just "tuned in" (I blatantly didn't) to see a superior ep that had a different quality to the rest of the season so far and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll give you unfunny, but didn't bother me. Again - perhaps preconceptions were the problem?

It's entirely possible. By the time of the next episode I've virtually forgotten what the trailer for the episode was/is anyway, so I don't think that had any sort of bearing on my thoughts once the ep. has aired. I just think perhaps it was too big of a downshift in pace from one half of the season to this episode. Mark

Good episode, with some quite intense and scary scenes to frighten the kiddies. Best so far.

Yeah, they were IMO scarier than the Daleks. Not as scarey as the weeping angels though

There were a couple of scenes in this episode which makes me think they are wasting Matt Smith’s talents. When he was discussing being the last of his species, it was done so calmly that it was quite chilling. Does this Doctor not use guns because he knows he’d go mental with one?
They really need to let this man flex his acting muscles more and not just play on the gangly gyrations.

He's already used a gun, granted it wasn't against another living being but he's used one non the less. Mark
