It's the attitude of some of those espousing climate change that's problematic - what scientist or group worth it's salt would shout 'General consensus!' when doubts are raised? And some of the doubts are very specific, right down to the mathematical formulae in some of the projections. Or 'Climate change denier!'? As if you're some sort of right-wing loon, just for daring to ask questions? And 'denier' tends to have 'holocaust' in front of it, if only subconsciously...

A philosopher, whose name I sadly forget, said something along the lines of
'Science can be defined as a continual search for truth, at least insofar as it should never claim to have found it absolutely'.
The nature of science is that any piece of knowledge should be open to scrutiny and reasoned debate. At the point where science or scientists say 'this is true and there will be no more argument about it', science and scientists have failed.
Now, the key point there is 'reasoned debate'. The antithetical argument must itself conform to scientific principles, be based on structured hypotheses and be backed up by repeatable, reviewable experimentation. To just deny a proposition is not the same as all of that. It is possible to have both people who make reasoned debate about climate change and climate change deniers but the one is not the other, and describing the former as the latter only reflects badly on those doing so.

Amazon prime order taken over a week now, no doubt lost by royal fail, now still waiting for the replacement to be dispatched, if it doesnt arrive tomorrow I'll have to go to HMV and buy it in person (which they have said they have stock)

I thought it was in response to porn filters. I know I'd be upset.

The Beeb's bringing in ex-Sony CEO and chairman Howard Stringer amongst others to look at governance and relations between itself and the Trust - this is the man who did precisely fcuk all while Sony's electronic division went to hell. He never attempted a joint strategy within Sony's market regions in 12 years (they're doing it now he's gone), but hey, his name came up... They could have thrown a stone in any direction and hit someone more qualified.
