True, but that when it was in dock and the guy who went nutso with a gun was one of the soldiers assigned to guard it, not a submariner. Generally I'd imagine you wouldn't carry loaded firearms as a matter of course on submarines. Doesn't mean they wouldn't have an armoury in case of emergency though.

The only unbelievable aspect for me was the speed that the ice warrior could get in and out of his armour.

He's a warrior from Mars, who's been in hibernation for five thousand years and this is the only thing you found unbelievable? Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

This episode was a vast improvement on the one from last week. I did like the olde worlde feel to this one. Very old school Doctor Who feel to it, which was very refreshing. No matter how fast The Doctor ran, he couldn't get very far, and didn't even have his TARDIS to turn to. He couldn't sonic his way out of this one either. Interesting to see that, yet again, it was Clara that saved the day, and also yet again it wasn't at the behest of The Doctor. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the next episode regarding this seeming trend.

Good to see that the BBC hadn't felt need to update the Ice Warriors too much (on the outside at least).
Was their external appearance ever described as "armour" before?

It was a good old fashioned spooky story, this episode. It was pretty bloody good, I thought. (8+)

Some nice references to past adventures too. Also a nice bit about "assistants" and "companions" too. There was also a bit of channeling Sarah Jane in this one - Emma Grayling was dressed very much as Sarah Jane Smith was in the 1970s. Hardly surprising, but I felt the setting, dress and story were quite gothic, and reminded me of Pertwee era stories. Is this what is happening? Each story taking the vibes from a classic era Doctor? Getting the flavour before the big reveal at the end of this series leading up to the big 50?

I considered this, then dismissed it, then re-considered it then dismissed and now after reading your post, I'm re-reconsidering it. I simply don't know. This did feel like a Pertwee story, no denying that, but then with the TARDIS story upcoming where would that fit in? I guess we need to post-mortem the episodes as and when. I would like to see a modern day B&W title sequence though. Mark

Does anyone else think the new episodes seem a little rushed toward the end?
I think they do an admiral job with the build up, but the finale seems... hurried; like the Sci-fi equivalent of Columbo.

Yeah it finished at a point leaving me thinking they were going to continue it next week. But then in the "Next Week" bit there was no mention of the weird-face, crawly, shifty, dude.

There was a Tom Baker episode when he was going deep int the TARDIS. I remember endless flights of what looked like stairs in a car park, and some kind of monastic quadrangle. There was also the Cloister Bell ringing in the episode we just had and the Tom Baker one.

Okay, so either we are reading too much into things or we've hit upon something that I haven't seen anyone else talking about (not that I go out of my way to read Doctor Who stuff, but the big things seem to pass by me more often than not). Also, can I give a mention to the theme tune here? What I'm hearing since the return of the show this year is possibly the best rendition of the tune that here has been since the show returned to our screens, and it's a really nice touch to have the face of The Doctor appearing in the title sequence again too. The music is, in my opinion, a lot better than it was last year, when it was way too "CBBCish" for my liking. I also commented on the face appearing to Mrs. V. Does it remind you of Colin Baker slightly, or is it just me? By which I mean just me that thinks that, not does the Doctor remind you of me... lol

I think I understand your point. *laugh* Yes, a little bit Colin Bakerish, the time vortex at the end of the title sequence is a little bit Tom Bakerish too, I think. Mark
