You mean they felt a little too choreographed; too practiced?

I'd agree with that, though I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have to admit, I had some doubts after reading a few reviews; but they read like it's trendy to pour scorn on popcorn flicks. Granted, it isn't going to win best actor, or best screenplay, but neither is Transformers 3. It didn't stop that busting box office records.

No, the word I'd use is probably... stilted. It was like 'OK, so you step over here and punch this guy and then turn round 180 degrees and shoot this guy then duck under there and..' and you could see where each move stopped and the next one started. It didn't... flow. If you examine the fight in '300' where the Spartans first face the Invincibles and there's almost a tracking shot where Leonidas fights a string of people as he's striding forwards there is a flow to the motion, it's almost graceful. Whereas if you compare it to when the three of them are fighting after dropping out of the plane into the courtyard on the 'fantasy level', the moves they do should flow together just as well but they just don't seem to.

Hmm.. I just checked the digital copy and that whole fight sequence isn't in it. It pretty much goes straight from them landing in the courtyard to breaching the building. It's only in the 'extended cut' on the Blu-ray. I guess that suggests a lot...

It wasn't on the DVD. I thought that scene seemed a little foreshortened, and at least now I know why.

Thor - don't bother, it's meh at best.

Unless you're a special effects junkie (the effects are great, granted, but often unnecessarily OTT), the film has next to nothing going for it, not even humour :(

The tone and pacing are completely uneven, probably as a result of having three screenplay writers*. I only stuck with it since it'll tie into The Avengers, but after this and the dull-ass Iron Man 2, Captain America is gonna need to be a hell of a film and the linchpin for that particular story...

* I'm seriously considering using Wikipedia in this regard before I waste my time in future.

I enjoyed Thor. 7/10.
Edit: You must have been watching some other Iron Man 2 to the one I saw.

What, that one with all the unnecessary talking that was supposed to be character development? ;)

I thought even the action scenes were limp and forgettable in IM2, and I loved the first :(

Luc Besson's Columbiana

Predictable and a bit disappointing. The filming has a lot of Transporter 3 style visuals.

The actual action scenes are actually well done. But the plot is predictable, a mixture of Leon, Nikita and The Transporter. You can play Luc Besson Bingo, whilst watching the film, trying to guess which scene comes from which previous film.

3 / 5

You can do that just from the trailer. :)

The only decent Luc Besson film in well, ages, was the first District 13 movie. And even then I don't think he directed it, just produced...

I watched IM and IM2 recently. The first was awesome. Loved it. The second was too OTT in terms of action sequences and not much of a coherent storyline or character development.

Source Code is recommended, especially if you liked 12 Monkeys, Quantum Leap, La Jetee or Inception.

Meh. Left me cold to be honest. It's not in the same league as any of the other films mentioned. Quantum Leap's probably about it's level though...

It didn't leave me cold, it isn't as good as La Jetee, Inception or 12 Monkeys. :D
It has to be said, i could rip holes in it, say it's Groundhog Day meets Snakes on a plane, but I won't, cause I liked it :)
