It gives that almost all the time.

In fairness, we're a very common bunch.

Yes, it's laughable, I'm thinking it's deliberate to cut down on server load?

It's a phpbb thing. If anyone knows how to fix it I'm open to suggestions

Our IT dept must be fiddling with the Internet filters - they blocked the whole of Google this morning and also x404 as they had put in "Information technology" as a Web site type to block

HMS Argyll navy torpedo fired into Devonport wharf

Quote:
A navy warship torpedo was accidentally fired into a dockyard wharf, it has emerged.

HMS Argyll was on a "training exercise" at Devonport dockyard in Plymouth when the torpedo "unexpectedly jettisoned onto the wharf", said the Royal Navy.

It said the Test Variant Torpedo was a dummy weapon with no explosive content, but it did cause minor damage.

There were no casualties involved in the incident on Wednesday, but training has been suspended.

Accidents do happen. 8-)

Are there none navy torpedos? Even our aerial torpedos are only carried by navy helicopters. The RAF don't use them at all.

BBC news is getting worse. They recently had a feature on deicing planes (clicky). It claimed the rubber boot design for deicing wings was most commonly used on medium sized jet planes. Bollocks! They're most commonly used on small straight winged turbo probs. You won't find a single Boeing, Airbus or McDonald Douglas passanger jet with them. Jets use bleed air or electrical systems to melt ice.

It looks like he spilled some yellow paint. Will he want to go back up and repaint that area? ;)

New client - and first port of call is adding the site (which is hosted in WordPress) to my back up schedule - so I have a local copy should anything go amiss on the server. The files are synced using FTP to my machine as well. I do this to all the sites I work on which use a database for some or all content. Those backups then get added to my own backup mix, including being uploaded to an offline backup service.

So I use NaviCat for MySQL to backup databases. I set this up, and I get locked out. Totally. No warning, nothing. FTP, even just accessing the site has gone. I am beginning to think that this host is a little twitchy. They apparently locked out the last webmaster because he was working from Australia. :?

I’ve been backing up databases like this for a long, long time, and this is the first time I’ve come across any issue with it. My own sites are hosted by some very security conscious people. If I were doing anything they didn’t like, they’d tell me.

Anyway, client told, support email sent (with client CC’d in) and I’m waiting for a response.

I think moving this site to another hoist is on the cards now, and the replacement site & domain will go nowhere near them.

The new Project Manager is supposed to be 'technical'.

He looked astounded when I ordered his e-mails by 'From'. He also asked me why he can't install applications if he doesn't have an administrator account.

Looks like we have another blagger...

Oh dear God...

3 fonts arranged in columns in various weights - which font do you prefer?

Directors answer? The bold ones.

I missed seeing The Zero Theorem at the cinema.
I only found out on Tuesday it was on release and today it's no longer screening.
*sigh*
