"Measure twice, cut once." is a phrase used to save time and materials on a project by eliminating mistakes. The reference "measure twice" was made towards the attempted suicide where a rope longer than necessary was used, culminating in an obviously failed attempt to hang oneself.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Why can't companies just say up front who they use for delivery? Ordered some stationery from an online place. No mention of which courier will do delivery until after it's shipped. Turns out to be Fed Ex who's nearest depot is about a 70 mile round trip away from where I live. Pretty much every other courier company has a depot here in Peterborough. Balls.
Mind you, it looks like they might be a bit better than some couriers in that they imply they'll wait for you to contact them to rearrange delivery rather than just go out the next day.

I may have to revise my opinion here. Got a phone call from Euroffice (where I placed my order). They phoned to ask if I'd had problems receiving my order because Fed Ex said they couldn't deliver yesterday. I explained that I wasn't going to be in during the week and none of the redelivery options were workable. They've cancelled the order and re-placed it for delivery to a different address where there will be someone in. If this all works I will be genuinely impressed. I can't help feeling that something terrible is going to transpire though. Fingers crossed.

One of my future brother-in-laws bought a new Windows PC last week, because his old one was running slow. I went to help him finish setting up his Windows 8 laptop, he didn't have any problems with W8, but he had copied over and installed a dozen pieces of malware from the old PC! I ended up using the refresh facility in Windows 8 to restore it to factory defaults and then ran Malware Bytes over it.
I ran Malware Bytes before hand and it found around 30 instances of a hijacking tool, but it didn't completely clear the problem, hence the refresh.
I also ran it on his old machine and it found around 200 different problems! After cleaning it, it was running reasonably quickly again.

As you know, I visited the dentist last wednesday for the first time in about 15 years. I wasn't having any particular problems, although I did have a broken tooth, that had broken about 6 years ago and never given me any trouble apart from on occasion with sweet things. I decided that I had better get a check-up and make sure there was nothing else going on and, as well as a scale and polish the dentist gave me a temp filling for the broken tooth until she can do the proper one (1st May currently) All was well until Thursday evening when I started getting some pain in my jaw, it has been radiating out from that broken tooth since then and is incredibly painful! I called the dentist Friday and went in to see one of the practise owners who had a prod, gave me some antibiotics and told me to take paracetamol and ibuprofen together to control the pain, rather than staggering them 2 hours apart as I had been. This stupid tooth that I have had no issue with at all for 6 years, is now ruling my life! I just spent the most miserable weekend ever, with the pain going around my jawline, into my ear and making my head ache. I don't know when these antiobiotics are going to start doing their job but I absolutely can't stay like this until the 1st of May. I am using clove oil and bonjela to control the pain between doses of painkillers, I am having to force myself not to overdose on pain meds and yesterday I was using clove oil about 3 times an hour at one point and I'm fairly sure that's what caused the vomiting later. I'm having trouble sleeping now which is making me cranky and emo So, no problems for 6 years, but 1 temporary filling later and I've been in misery for 4 days. I am going to call the dentist again this morning and see if I can't get in on a cancellation sooner to get the proper filling sorted out. Interestingly I am *really* looking forward to getting shot up with novocaine because I've forgotten what 'no pain' feels like.
