Unless my sister gets married, I have the grim prospect of funerals to look forward to. Not that anyone has died yet, or is infirm (well, my grandma is), it just looks statistically more probable now.

Not well today, so been plonked in front of the telly. Watched a couple of episodes of Bonanza. Those Cartwrights, who are supposed to be the moral, upright heroes of the piece, are just a bunch of thugs. In one episode they liked the reporter who turned up when he was writing stuff that benefitted their own selfish needs.

Quite frankly, this is the kind of ambiguous stuff we like on TV these days, but the ambiguity is evident in the characterisations - and we love it. In the 1950s the were fewer (and smaller) grey areas.

Anyway, the reporter in question turned out to be Mark Twain, so kind of glad he got a few beatings from all and sundry :-)
