Aside from my skills at hotel booking (see FPOTD thread) I have to say that Erudio Student Loans fail boat is getting more impressive every month I have to intact with them.

Had a letter on Friday saying they'd upheld my complaint about them cocking up my loan deferment and that they'd now updated their records so the deferment was now in place until 14 April 2014. Guess what they've done today - that's right, taken a further loan payment from my bank account. A rather irrate phone call beckons me thinks and it'll be a good thing to be able to add to my complaint to the FOS. Gah

Can't you cancel their direct debit?

Well I could, however having an active DD in place is one of the conditions of the loan so cancelling it would be a breach of the loan agreement.

In addition, Erudio have been much more aggressive than the Student Loands Company about working with credit reference agencies and given the level of incompetence they've displayed so far I'm confident that if I cancelled the DD and they then tried to take a payment and it failed they've register it a default on the accounts with the CRA which would be a monumental pain the backside to clear up.

The DD guarantee means you can ask your bank to reverse it if they've taken it by mistake

Also. If the deferment was in place until April 2014 they should be collecting it now

I've asked my bank to refund it.

My previous deferment was in place until April 2014 indeed but I have a new deferment in place until April 2015 (and the paperwork to prove it which I've had since March this year). They shouldn't have taken the money, any of the money. I'm willing to accept that the very first time they took money was a genuine error. I'm not overly surprised that transferring tens of thousands of accounts from one company (Student Loan Company) to another (Erudio) didn't go entirely smoothly however making the same cock up three months in a row when they've been informed of their mistake the day the first one happened is either spectacular incompetence or a deliberate effort to make deferment such a monumental pain in the backside that everyone gives up and they can collect the money - they're either idiots or liers (or possibly incompetent liers) IMHO.

I'm looking forward to my discussion with the FOS about this.

In typical 'update' fashion these days, the Beeb have removed the limit on favourites on PS3 iPlayer and broken the rest of it - sections of the screen have flashed at me, madam, it's freezing, displaying the wrong programmes...

Typical Sony device - when you need it most that's when it FAILs. Out for a walk and spot a small mouse, try to take a picture with my phone and it just refuses to do anything. Out of the corner of my eye I see the mouse running for the leg of my jeans... Cue a mini freakout for both me and the mouse by the time I was done swearing.

Some sod or their automated minion spoofed or hijacked my webmail account to send out a load of junk messages. Not happy.

So yesterday evening, I noticed the fuel gauge in the car was on the low side. Was gonna fill up but was having too much fun with the girlfriend and decided to leave it until today. Drive to work and the light comes on. "That's okay," I think, "I can fill up when doing home visits or on the way home". Quick pat of my jacket shows me I've left my wallet at home.

Fudge!
