I guess you'll be needing a few hundred picks and a month or two of mining then

Just had a phonecall....
Her: Our Windows server is showing your virus blah blah blah Me: Ha ha ha ha ha... really? Her: I don't understand I did not crack a joke Me: Yes you did Her: I did not. The virus blah blah blah Me: So your Windows server is reporting a virus from my iMac? Her: You use Mac? Me: Yes Her: Oh. James (?) Veater has asked us to call him about a virus blah blah Me: Look. I'm not an idiot. I know all about these scams. Not only that but I'm an IT tech. Her: Oh. Er. Me: Ok then. Bye.
I gave the game away too quickly. I should have played along.

Yes you could have dragged it out for at least twenty minutes.

Yeah, I spun it out when I had one of those calls. It's interesting listening to them spin it out. I even got the manager on the line at one point.

Last time I had one of those calls I basically said I had a mac so was not affected, plus I already used and AV. I was more annoyed by the fact that I have signed up to the telephone preference service so should not get such calls.

TPS only applies to calls originating in the UK. Which these days, virtually none of them do.

It's also an opt-in service. Given that these people are trying to comit fraud however I doubt they give a flying [LIFTED] about TPS, even if it was legally enforceable.

Someone tried that on my father-in-law the other week. He was just about to give thim access too. Until I walked in the door, heard what he was doing, and let rip down the phone at them.

This is so unfair. I'm dying to get one of those calls - I fully intend to lead them on for as long as possible.

They get away with it because: 1) Phone companies don't track incoming call phone numbers (if they've used 141 or come from abroad). Which means they can't block it or report it to the powers that be. 2) The police can't/won't do anything when you report the scam if you spot it as a "crime hasn't taken place yet".
