Don't say that round 'ere, criticising the iPhone on x404 is tantamount to heresy.

I believe there are some here who would disagree with that assessment.

Thanks Amnesia, I did think a Google would have solved my question, but after posting that last night I pretty much went straight to bed... I was called to say they had some in stock, by the looks of things operators are taking contact details for people and allocating stock before it actually gets into the warehouse As for all of the reception problems, I've heard a few people first hand saying that it's a load of non-sense and a few people saying they have had calls cut off. I'll order a case and hopefully it'll be fine

I expect that it will be fine. With the free bumper you will probably have no problems at all.

Yeah, once you get the bumper it's fine.

I doubt many people will be worrying about the drop out problem with the bumpers. Shame they were not included as an option from the start.

Well I got my iPhone last night and have been playing with it pretty much ever since... I like how much faster it is than my iPod Touch and I'm liking the novelty of the camera and GPS atm too. I've made a few calls and not had a problem with dropped signal, but I've ordered a case anyway, should be with me in one to two weeks apparently... I'm one happy bunny

I disagree, the reception issue is a complete non-issue for me, in fact the only time I noticed a major drop in the bars was when I put my free Griffin case onto my iPhone 4. Every phone I've ever owned or picked up has a drop off, however apart from my Siemens SL55(which I loved) I have never had a dropped call due to picking a phone up. The only major thing about the "reception issue" is that it became magnified by all the reporting in different areas of the media, unlike the similar problems others were having with other smartphones which largely stayed on internet fora.

Maybe you live on top of a mast! Round here, the five people I know with iPhone 4s found them unusable until they got their cases, or were in an area of full strength signal, which round here is rare.

When my brother said his iPhone had 1 or no bars and his wifes HTC Desire had loads I tried to explain how the displayed bars might not be indicitive of the actual signal strength, etc etc. So he replied "so why if the phones - both on Orange - are next to each other in the house can I make a call on hers and not mine?"
I had no answer. I've suggested if the situation is no better when he gets his case he ought to return it.

Nope I don't live on top of a mast...and even with the "signal drop" experienced by people in some areas I haven't heard of anyone apart from you and your 5 friends who found the phone unusable, the bumper/case really doesn't make a huge amount of difference. As I've said it seems to negatively affect the signal bars on my handset yet I don't have any dropped calls or data loss.
