Sorry, didn't mean it like that. I just sympathise and I don't know how I would feel in your shoes. I'll be 29 in a month, so I should shut up and stop moaning, but I often think about my later years.

You shouldn't apolgise, we're all in the same boat. None of us know when the end will come so we could all be in our "later" years.

Tru dat.

JJ makes an interesting point. When I broke my ankle 18mths ago, it was the seemingly billionth fracture I'd endured. When telling people about it, I was amazed at the number of people who had NEVER broken a bone in their bodies. To me, breaking bones was fairly routine as a kid and as an adult I've even been through the excruciating pain of a fractured sternum.

But when I had to have surgery to put titanium inside me, I sat up and paid attention. And when I had to have physio, and when I had to train harder at ninjutsu and exercise etc. Even now sitting here, I'm aware of several bits of metal inside my body and the point of this little story you ask?

You only get one body, I intend to continually strive to take better care of mine. My body is not a Toyota, it will not run regardless of neglect or abuse. But I choose to believe that it IS a straight six BMW. There might be niggles here and there, but if serviced regularly and treated with respect, the running gear will last, literally, a lifetime.

This meatsack is what allows me my corporeal existence and for that I am grateful. Getting older doesn't affect the rest of me in a negative way, so my soul can rest easy :)

* raises hand *

There have been soooo many times I should have, from falling out of trees to going arse over tit and landing on my neck in the Alps, but the worst I've had is a bad sprain.

Now if we're talking scars, got several of them. :D

My body is a temple. Much like our local church, parts of it are in disrepair and it would cost a fortune to do it up properly

My body could be British Airways. It's not what it used to be, bits of it complain frequently, and some days it just doesn't want to work at all :(

Well into my mid 40's so assuming I live an average lifespan about 1/2 way there I guess

Getting old doesn't bother me per say although
- if i go out for a party it now takes me a weekend to recover
- verious bits ache for no apparent reason
- the music in pubs is to loud

basically slowly turning into a grumpy old man

I'll be grouchy when I turn 40. That's offically middle aged rather than being a young adult.

I get the impression you use the forum as a practice ground for that time Lev. ;)

Getting older doesn't bother me - it's just a number. Got more aches and pains now I'm in my 40s and I really should give up smoking. I did for a few months but started up again. I think when I'm in 60s / 70s it will bother me more as I listen to how frustrated my Mum gets that she's not able to do as much and gets tired quickly.
